Hiding that you're a Death Knight with Tauren Shaggy Mane option

Hello AD,
I’ve been roleplaying for a long time, and obviously never rolled a death knight due to the fact that their eyes completely ruin RP for me and others (if I want to RP as something else and not a dk)
I figured, with the Tauren Shaggy Mane option, would that make them atleast more Immersive to roleplay with if I example wanted to be a tauren Warbrave.
I’m generally just searching for opinions, as I’ve never tried this out.

While it no doubt will work, you’ll need MRP or TRP to really state what your character is instead. Also be prepared that a few rpers might claim OOC’ly your character is a DK and refuse to see it otherwise, there are those few types out there

Tbf you could just make a normal Tauren.

Hey guy, why’s your mane glowing blue where your eyes are supposed to be?

Mainly now since dks start at lvl 8 and the new starting zone can be done in less then an hour, plus you have more weapon options from choosing warrior or paladin than you would a dk.

This is entirely my opinion, ofcourse. But I personally dislike the “Not a DK ICly” approach. While it is possible from certain races (Zandalari and Nightborne are two prime example) I feel that the fact that Tauren would end up the worst offenders for it; with all the abilities of the Death Knight having atleast some sort connection to darker magic and more.

Edit; Reread Zagkush comment… And I agree with him… Sorry for tagging and misunderstanding you :frowning:

I mean, is it really hiding that you’re a Death Knight? Anyone can pick up that whole deathly thing without much effort. Especially a culture that is so fixated on life, such as the Tauren.

Sure why not, while I’m not a big fan of “not a DK IC” myself I get it, it’s a reason I don’t have one.

For those asking, it’s quite obvious, you like the class gameplay but don’t want to rp a dead killing machine…

I find that with the level squish, there’s not much reason to be playing a DK as not a DK (unless you want to play some strange flavour of dark shaman or… combat mage?). People used to do it for the bump in level, but right now…

You could pull off the “not a DK” card, but it’s a very stigmatized position, since many have not done it particularly well. In any case, people have used all sorts to hide their eyes before. It doesn’t tend to do the trick.

I personally don’t care. If you have a concept that would benefit from DK animations/armor and can make it work, it’s all fine by me. RP is an exercise in imagination. Through the years my position has changed from “lol dragon rpers hahaha that’s bad” to “you can be a Nerubian for all I care if it makes sense within your roleplay”.

It kinda made sense when DKs started 50 odd levels higher than everyone but they don’t now and levelling is so easy at present.

Your mind didn’t go to Necromancer?

Yes, but the OP mentioned wanted to play a Brave. I’m not sure Necromancer is in the plans.

fair in 10 characters.

Idk how unpopular this opinion is but i’m absolutely willing to accept that someone IC is what they say they are, rather than the class they are ooc. It allows a lot more creative freedom and some people might just prefer the playstyle of a DK over, say a warrior, for when theyre ooc playing content. It really comes down to just trusting other rpers and not trying to metagame -oh actually you’re dead! definitely dead i inspected your character!!!

I did it with my nelf, because I couldn’t be bothered to level another, and you can use Night Warrior eyes instead of glowing blue ones. :man_shrugging:

Yeah back in the old days it would’ve made sense coz u got boosted about 50 levels, nowadays it would be 5 or 8 levels? Not sure how many but I’m certain it’s not a big number anymore.

And if you can hide it with nelfs, I mean, at least you hide one of the DK’s symptoms/effects. I guess that’s kinda fine?
Personally not a fan of that excuse tbh, sorry to say so brother Ranko

Do what I want!
Also gets rid of the echo voice.
I need no permission, only NPCs!

Sure why not!

As far as I know Death Knight Taurens can use normal fur color, and other nice customization options!

I see no problem in this if you use any addons that would tell your fellow RPers that you are not a death knight
