I’ve got my fans become crazy when im playing wow on MAC OS (only WOW, other games — ok, even playing vanilla there is all ok)
But when i’m playing wow, i’m got my fans RPM changed up to 2100 RPM (from 1200), and when im playing, the WOW process use 140-190% of CPU (In monitor)
I have low quality graphics, and when im leave game my fans become pretty normal (to 1200RPM).
How to change this annoying issue?
iMac mid 2017, 8 gb Radeon Pro 580, 24Gb of RAM
CPU temperature up from 60C to 70C when im playing World of Warcraft.
Heya Рхн,
Having high usage while playing wow doesn’t mean that there is any issues, especially since your temperatures are well within the norm. If there are no performance issues either there’s really nothing to be concerned about.
None the less, the best way to reduce CPU usage is with capping the FPS of the game. You can use either the Max foreground FPS or tick vertical sync based on your preferences.
Hopefully this helps.
Just wait for the Imac that will come around 2025 it might be able to run a 15+ years old game in level 5 graphic settings

I had this exact issue, I fixed it by:
- Closing Facebook windows that I had open
- Playing always in Windowed mode
- Clear out the vents
On the Botton edge of your iMac there are vents. Upturn the machine and as hard as you can - blow from left to right (don’t use a compressor as you may spin the fans too fast and break them) You’ll be amazed at what comes out
