I empathize with the cause but not the method. I fully understand that people want High Elves and that they are sour about the way that the story has gone to a place where Alliance High Elves are almost extinct.
I am one of the advocates for going back and doing Warlords of Draenor properly, wiping current BFA and starting again with a Faction War expansion and then an Old Gods expansion (and after that then Shadowlands). I fully understand being pissed off at how the story has gone. Sadly, I also understand that what has been done is done.
What I don’t agree with is whinging and moaning and stamping feet in a childish tantrum demanding crap like an annoying kid. The asinine threads. The threats. The demands without any consideration for what can and can’t be done. Worst of all, is the hypocritical disregard for the story and lore despite having an unhealthy obsession with one specific race.
Oh yes, its unfair that they get to play all that is currently available. Doesn’t matter that that is what they are paying for, right? Just because you pay, doesn’t mean you have the right to demand more when plenty has already been given.
This isn’t about equality. This isn’t a “He got so I should get” scenario. The Zandalari Trolls were always set out as a different archetype of troll, like so many troll sub-species. They got lucky because of how they were set up. It isn’t “unfair” that the High Elves are literally the exact same as Blood Elves.
High Elf fans can feel annoyed all they want that years of lore can come back to bite them in the bum, but simply demanding High Elves to be jammed into the game is like being the kid who demands different food at a friends birthday party because he doesn’t like the chili the mom has cooked.
It’s not a disservice. High Elf fans need to learn to adapt and put forward ways that High Elves can be brought back without screwing up the current system.
I agree that, for now, this compromise is the best course of action. Void Elves are not High Elves anymore (or Blood Elves for that matter) but the visual changes are a nice band-aid. Of course, people want High Elves playable for Lore reasons; they don’t just want visuals. So sadly, another race would be needed but what would also be needed would be a proper advancement of the story to allow for a High Elf re-entry.
Something to make them different from Void Elves and Blood Elves. Both visually and mechanically. Also, remember that their population is pitiful; even the Void Elves can get by with their population being a massive “???” at the moment. For all we know, time flows differently in their little Twisting Nether Pocket Dimension and they could have been porking each other for generations!
In all honesty, yes, that would have been incredibly good. Blood Rage could literally have just been renamed “Ancestral Rage”. All Orcs are angry. We could have had a whole mini-patch in Alt Draenor leading up to this new set of cosmetic options. They’d still be Orcs.
Ah, to be honest the Horde isn’t getting things the way they want either. We go through Warchiefs and main characters like mints in a bad breath clinic. The Alliance are just being too coddled. There is no way you can expand and make something interesting when the Alliance story is always kept so secure and vanilla. How many kings have you lost? I like how both Jaina and Mekkatorque survived being raid bosses.
That all being said, I would agree that most of the devs need either fired or a good kicking. The story in BFA was dreadful and they didn’t even learn anything from what happened with WoD.
Well that’s the issue; they mostly play Horde because Horde can be far more interesting. The morally grey faction is surprisingly more dynamic and open for potential over the puritan, innocent, no-toe-out-of-line, comfort zone Alliance. If BFA had seen the Alliance almost fall into civil war, or even had them lose the War with Sylvanas, then that side would be far more interesting! Imagine if Stormwind was occupied for an expansion? Imagine if they had to relocate to Ironforge or Gilneas? Imagine not knowing what would happen rather than the usual “Alliance will be fine” attitude that happens every single time?

I still maintain my argument.
I think it’s far better to just make introduction quests or whatever to unlock customization options instead of flooding the game with more and more races making balancing harder and harder.
This way, you have lore and customization while not spaming the game with pointless new races.

The only ‘method’ there is is to ask, and ask, and keep asking, and to explain to anyone with doubts why it make sense.

Instead of being abrasive and negative, why don’t you be civilised and discuss properly the issue? So far, the running theme with High Elf arguments is to whinge and moan when anyone puts forward a counter argument.
And people have put forward counter arguments.
You put forward your reasons for having High Elves in the game, other people then counter your reasoning with points about why your proposal could not work. Your only rebuttal to that seems to be “no, screw you”.
Where is the attempt to advance the High Elf story? Where is the attempt to actually make High Elves viable? Make your proposal work instead of trying to force the system to work for your proposal. There is nothing wrong with current WoW - fix your arguments.

I’ll just point out that you are the one raging here.
You are the one who is trying to push for a proposal (High Elves) so it really is up to you to make the argument. Many of us here on the other side have put forward valid points about why High Elves cannot be put into the game in their current form. We’ve even given potential solutions to adapt High Elves into a viable possibility.
Do you rage because you have nothing?

Its just a shame that so many High Elf fans seem to feel the same way - they don’t want any discussion about how to move High Elves forward. They just want an echo chamber.
