You have your opinion we have ours. You are the ONLY one who doesn’t want to accept that those High and Blood elves are there to become void elves. Why the hell would they be there in the first place?! I said this before multiple times. The proper way to become a Void elf is in the way like how Alleria did, by learning and training. The current void elves had no plans to become infused with the void, that was an accident. Alleria though she was training and she knew what she was doing. That’s how the new Void elves will also be.
You already got helfs jusy difrent flavor called void elfs
*sic
And those different flavours aren’t the one we’re discussing here, but rather the high elves, as described by Blizzard art director Ely Cannon:
Specifically high elf customisations, specifically choosing where one wants to align and what fantasy to play out.
That is perhaps because I am one of those poor forlorn souls doomed to perpetual disappointment, who actually want the lore to make sense.
Maybe for the reason they say they are there for?
I mean they do -tell- you why they are there.
For both the Blood Elf and High Elves there it is the same. Void knowledge is -naughty- it is forbidden. Both the High Elf mobs and the Blood Elf mobs have mostly the same text lines actually, and key to that is that both say “We came here to Study the Void.”
Study.
Not “We came here to learn the mystical tentacle-fu of the purple elves, and hopefully become one!”
Seriously, look up the mob names, High Elf Wayfarer and Silvermoon Scholar. It states it right there, in plain text, they are there to Study the Void, nothing about being new Recruits at all.
By definition what you are describing is not ‘the proper way’ to establish anything. Alleria is a one off. Yes, she studied, Yes, she was taught. She also drained a Dark Naaru.
Not too many of those knocking around are there? Do we -know- if her methods would work on a lesser Void Entity?
How much lesser will it work with? Does it only work on the vaguely incorporeal ones or physically tangible creatures of the Void? Does the Voidyness in a Void Elf differ due to whether they ingest a Shadowy Cythraxxi Priest of doom or a tiny little thing that scrubs along the floor flailing about wildly?
We don’t know. Nor does Alleria.
Because it has only happened -Once-.
Thats not how you establish a defined or ‘proper’ way of doing something, I mean if you did it a second time and it went disastrously wrong then suddenly thats -not- the proper way of doing it. If you did it four times and on three of them it went wrong then thats definitely -not- the proper way of doing it, but you just struck it lucky the first time.
What I’m saying is that neither Locus Walker or Alleria can say with certainty that they have perfected a technique, when there is only -one- example of it working…
I’m currently there at the rift right now. Here are the quotes.
High elf “a path long denied to us is open at last”
Silver moon blood Elfs are there too.
Locus Walker:
“fascinating
I sensed that change was destined to find Alleria windrunner. But I did not anticipate that her kin would undergo a similar transformation.”
The fact that Alleria accepted the void and became a void elf, some of these elves want to follow her path. She is a big known hero so I can see why others wanna follow.
It makes sense. I for one am very very excited for the natural skin tones. I don’t see why blood elves are angered. We are not even getting any natural hairstyles/hair colors. We are simply getting natural skin and blue eyes
But blood elves have blonde hair and blue eyes, so you guys have the real deal and you should be happy instead of complaining. Plus you own the beautiful city of Silvermoon and we own a black flying rock in space lol.
Yeah, Its a school of study open to them that was forbidden, well, still is forbidden, both the High Elves and Blood Elves there seem to be pretty clear on that front.
Still doesn’t mean they are trying to become Void Elves though, just that it is a forbidden path of study.
Sort of like how at a certain point in history, dissection of even dead bodies to advance medicine was forbidden by the Church, and could lead to you being executed, so Physicians would have to work with nefarious ‘body snatchers’ to advance their knowledge, the studies of the Void, so long forbidden, suddenly had a place where those Elves could advance their knowledge.
This does tell us a bit more about Ethereals, that he could sense that, before it had happened, but then you would expect that an entity that is pretty much just pure thought, rather than having to concern itself with fleshly matters, would have an analytical view on things.
I mean sure he didn’t anticipate the Void Elves creation, but then no one could, not even Durzaan, whose work it was, because his intentions went wrong.
I think they were a very astute and timely move, to be honest, it allows those who want to RP as High Elves to do so, something which has been long desired by people.
I don’t think they are. Mainly because they don’t exist.
To be honest I don’t know why they didn’t give normal hair options to Void Elves to go with the ‘normal’ skin colours, it would have made sense to me, surely they would have seen it would only cause problems if they didn’t. Hopefully there are more options down the pipeline that include other hair colours, after all, we haven’t seen all the customisations yet when it comes to Allied Races.
Which, like, Y’know, makes sense, they are the core race…
I think you’ll find I was the person who posted on the Quel’dorei thread alerting them to the new changes for Void Elves and congratulating them on finally getting (sort of) what they wanted.
Don’t tell some of the crazier High Elf fans that, they still think that Void/High Elves should get Silvermoon as well!
My bad. I understood your message wrongly perhaps.
Hahaha I can’t blame you. Some of them ask for the most craziest things like a void elf Paladin hahaha. Never going to happen.
I only wanted the skin and eye colors, nothing else. Even the hair colors I don’t care about, but if they do add it I wouldn’t mind… just that I wouldn’t choose it. Actually I might choose black if it was an option
To be honest if I had my way, to go with the ‘normal’ skin colours, I’d have added the hair colours.
-If- Blizzard’s intention was to throw High Elf Fans something nice, I’d have added more hair styles as well as colours, and also the same eye options as Blood Elves are getting.
As for black hair, I -think- you can actually get that? I can’t remember, not logged my Voidy in a while, but I think you can actually get a proper jet black colour (as opposed to the bizarre blue black that Belf’s get)
I’m pretty sure I have jet black hair on my Velf, I may be wrong though…
Trust me there isn’t. There is a darker version on the male almost passing as black, but on the female everything is unnatural colors. Dark blue (like my profile) is the closest thing. But a jet black hair is not available. Which is weird because some NPC’s have it
Damn, thats unfortunate. I think I must have went for the -nearly- black option on my boi. Thats a shame then. I mean you’d have thought of all the colours Void Elves could have…
Channels Ursula the sea witch, and sings “Poor unfortunate souls”.
To be honest, with the new skin tones, I think we’re looking at void elves that aren’t actually void elves, but who have studied the void enough, and perhaps eaten a few voidwalkers, to become able to use void abilities such as Spatial Rift and Entropic Embrace. So somewhere just in between what you and Vanalia and Leerena are saying.
The original void elves are the blueberry ones. The next generation of playable void elves aren’t actually void elves as much as void aligned high elves.
And as such, they need high elf hair.
I support them getting black but honestly I like their thematic as tending towards blue and purple, it sets them apart from undead elves and San’layn whom tend to have white or black hair. I think the blue purple and rusted gold colour scheme of Velf is really lovely and probably one of my favourites honestly
Nonetheless black should be an option. I just hope more otherworldly customisation options and colours come alongside the more normal ones too. Sinister space elves is a powerful look.
Tbh we also need normal hairs colors and maybe High elf mixed with Human hair styles and for the female ones KT female hair styles would look nice.
The only thing I wanted is golden jewelry for Night Elves to match Azshara’s, natural hair colors for Void elves to have the full high elf aesthetic and a way to toggle the void form, I really love it and I’m always sad how I can’t use it whenever I want to. None of these things are happening sadly but I come to accept that. Not sure why blizzard couldn’t bother to add these things since those would be just a recolor and existing textures but I guess it it what it is, at least Horde got the full High Elf aesthetic which Alliance wanted for like the past 15 years but hey good for you then Horde, once again you got another thing Alliance players have begged for years.
Yep… The horde gets everything they want as always.
Yeah, except we don’t. Not by a long shot.
Aha you got high elf Costums almost every race you asked for.
And since they can turn into Void Elves through a controlled way, i imagine they would have the capabilities of hiding the visual effects the Void would have in their bodies, thus, explaining how they can preserve their High/Blood Elf look while still gaining powers.
This would be a good lore explanation for the new customization options.
They just need the normal hair colors and then we are set. for now.
Just need a few natural hair colors and i would be extremely happy.
Come on, if they gave them a whole collection of natural skin colors, why not hair colors too?
