High Elves in 12.1 šŸ’™

And yet there was not a single High Elf on the Beach of the Isle of Dorn during the big arrival of the Horde and Alliance forces. Wonder where they all disappeared.

I have never said such a thing.

I shall once more emphasize my argument.

Now, I am still waiting for my answers.

It’s a simple YES or NO answer, and I have been provided none.

Had you bothered to play wow you’d know the answer.

What a well-rounded argument.

You can’t answer, because you’d need to reckon with the fact that you’re wrong. Because you can’t suggest the page is wrong or the information is wrong. Since it isn’t. Since it isn’t unreliable. And since you don’t have any material sources to speak of. The current state of the world, the lore and the information we have at present [while it can change in the future] provides no room for the high elves to be in any greater capacity.

Period.

I too hope this changes. As mentioned, I too have a beloved high elf character that I ā€˜have’ to play as a blood elf. Meanwhile, I’m also bloody grateful the customizations exist.

But this is the reality of the situation as it looks right now, as far as we know. Based on the confirmed sources and the confirmed information that we all share for this world.

The number dispute:

Void elves (or ren’dorei, ā€œchildren of the Voidā€ in Thalassian)[4] are a race of Void-infused elves affiliated with the Alliance. Their origins lie with a group of blood elves following Magister Umbric who were exiled from Silvermoon City because of their research into the Void.

The group people advocate for:

Most of the remaining ā€œhighā€ elves who had chosen to remain with the Alliance following the Second War did not return to their kingdom after the Third War.[9]

The difference between both races:

When Grand Magister Rommath returned to Quel’Thalas to teach them Kael’s magic siphoning ways, some elves were disgusted by the practice and refused siphoning magic from living creatures. Unable to lead a divided nation, Regent Lord Lor’themar exiled the dissenters from the kingdom, the exiles finding residence in Quel’Lithien.[16]

Edit: I’m doing this on my phone, so if the formating seems off, that’s why.

My thread was created as a message to the developers from all High Elf fans - to remind them once again that we exist, that we’re still waiting, and that we still have hope

I have absolutely no interest in hearing from yet another hater or engaging in endless debates, repeating arguments and facts that have already been stated thousands of times

In the end, every discussion with you and people like you always boils down to the same thing: ā€œYou won’t get High Elves because I don’t want itā€

But remember - High Elves don’t belong to the horde, and they definitely don’t belong to the haters with their dull, repetitive comments :tipping_hand_woman:

Just checking real quick, that’s a NO on providing any sort of valid or mature response to the concern at hand then? Or how we’re suggesting this should be approached instead?

Even with sources, receipts and everything?

Why are you talking to yourself? :grimacing:

I’m confident they don’t require my help to complete their work; however, would you regard these as valid sources for a response, or have I perhaps misunderstood the questions?

He’s already made it clear that the only valid response is cherry picked statements from one book.

Not what’s actually presented in game.

You realize the difference became a moot point after TBC when the Sunwell Got restored? Because not even Blood Elves kept relying on Mana Tap.

Also Quel’Lithien Lodge is no more with only one known survivor. Well two but considering their leader became a rare mob to kill on EP I doubt he canonically lives. Reminder that the Lodge itself never joined the Alliance remaining Independent if Hostile to the Horde.

For the Renmants of Second War we can assume that included the priests and sorcerers that aided the Alliance during early stages of 3rd War as well as those that escaped with Jaina to Kalimdor and later settling in Theramore. Large portion of the former would die in the Fall of Lorderon and Theramore would fall victim to Mana Bomb.

Allerian Outpost we’re never given numbers and from NPC representation humans seemed to outnumber them by a bit.

And What is presented in the game? Handful of NPC including in the recent expansion ZERO High Elves among the forces the Alliance sent to Isle of Dorn? But wait there are two High Elf Mages in the Stormwind Embassy in Dornagal. They must have a high and sustainable strong presence.

Cmon man, you just did.

A few high elves rejoined the Alliance in recent year

The high elves have never formally forgiven the blood elves for exiling them from Quel’Thalas. The rift between the two groups remains deep, though some individuals have reconciled or at least learned to coexist.

Of course, there could have been more High Elves, but most of them decided to become traitors and serve as servants to the orcs and trolls (those who had been exterminating their people for many years)

Absolutely!

It does not however state, in any way, what those numbers are. There are no sources that in any way give us an indication of how few or how many the Void Elves are. They could be in the hundreds, or they could be … two dozen. Granted, this is a massive issue.

But narratively, this means there is enough headroom to make something.

The high elves are explicitly and repeatedly stated to be an extremely miniscule number.

I don’t think personally think the Void Elves are greater in number than the High Elves.

We just have zero idea what the actual numbers are. And high elves are described to be non-existent, a ā€œfailed raceā€ etc. As I have provided the texts on over and over again now.

There is nothing in writing, no sources that can confirm to contradict what we have.

Convenient of you to leave out the footnote in the text that reveals that that was a quote from the website. A source and link I also provided in the text, by the way.

BFA questline refers to Umbric and his followers as: ā€œa small group of band of magisters and studentsā€.

We also have no evidence of Void Elves actively recruiting to expand their ranks.

Probably because that is the lore rationale for why they aren’t playable.

The real reason they aren’t playable of course is because they are indistinguishable in terms of looks, lore and culture from existing Blood Elves and they don’t want to share a core race of one faction to the other.

I mean the lore explanation is a fascinating debate but it is too often used to obscure the real gameplay reason it didn’t happen.

We do. Priest Ennas is now a Void Elf and actively sought them out.

ā€œSilvermoon betrayed its people the moment we joined hands with the Horde. That’s why I left. Better to be an outcast flung to the far reaches of space than to swallow the lies of the magisters.ā€
