High end specs, low graphic recommendation

I recently bought a new laptop with an RTX 3070, i7-11800H processor and 32 gigs of ram. I copied my wow folder to the laptop’s SSD drive so that I kept my addons and settings.

WoW looks good, but when I go into the gfx settings in game it suggests mid to high settings, when I was expecting ultra. Whats going on here?

I’ve looked in advanced settings and made sure the RTX 3070 is selected, but no change in recommendations.

Edit: laptop is plugged in and on a cooling stand.

A lot of laptops can use “performance mode” which u need to turn on manualy , even if its pluged in . Chances are that it counts wow as non graphics heavy game and thus doesnt run on 100% of power . Look into that, every brand has it in different settings and with diferent name . Google is your friend here.

Another shot is that wow is simply poorly optimalized which wouldnt exactly surprise me . But it depends on various things, what monitor u play at ? What resolution more precisely , whats your desired fps ? Caped or no? Fullacreen or windowed etc etc .

I play with 1080ti, only full HD tho, and uncaped in normal environment ( aka non 40 man raids etc ) im around 200+ fps . Desktop tho .

There’s your problem. :stuck_out_tongue:

And why do you care what the game “recommends”? Do you expect Blizzard to have perfect recommendations for every graphics card? Why don’t you just put it on Ultra and move on with your life?

I have an Asus laptop with an i7-11800H a 3050Ti & 16GB Ram. Wow recomended the same settings but I cranked it up to 10.
I regularly run well over 100 fps, so I’d ignore wow’s recomendation.

Imagine playing on a laptop smh

Yeah well I recently became a dad and my desktop pc was in the attic. Even if I wanted to play 20 min I had to go all the way up there where I wouldn’t hear my wife if she needed me. With a baby it seemed only logical to me to buy a laptop so I could stay close by.

I know I shouldn’t care about what wow suggest but I was curious of it was on my end or just the game.
