Hey Reins!

If your connection to WoW is fine most of the time, but is slow in the evening (What’s normally prime time) then it’s very possible that your internet provider is performing traffic shaping, which means they’re prioritising some network trafic over others.

Looking at your MTR there though, you’re having some serious packet loss, meaning 43% of the data you’re sending is being lost in transit, and it’s definitely something I’d encourage you to reach out to your internet provider and talk about, though not before doing some quick Latency Troubleshooting to ensure it’s nothing local!

Can’t understand how you evaluate that 43% of packet lost.
At russian segment of WoW forum exists few threads with same problem description. Traceroutes results show that they have different internet providers but all have route through as57976.net area and have same problems with packets loss and high pings.

Problem is not stable. It can occur and disappear after 10-15 min and occur again after some time.
Traceroute to some another IPs at that moments have no such problems, even if their routes go through as57976.net area, but different nodes at it.

I can copy/paste their traceroute results here to show that we all have different internet providers and routes up to as57976.net.

Hello Reins!

Can’t really talk about other players since we only have your test results here, but I am afraid the situation may be a bit more complex than it looks at a glance.

Your WinMTR results are showing a number of different problems, starting from the very first nodes of the routing:

This node here for example, shows a worst ping of 173ms for the first test, and 95ms for the second, rather high if we consider that this node is right outside your home network, and that the average response time is a pretty good 10/11 ms.
What this basically means, is that in the second node of your connection routing there seem to be a certain degree of instability, or latency spikes if you prefer. This alone can cause latency problems in game from time to time.

This instability also has an effect on other nodes, for example:

In this step - the connection here seem to be within your ISP network infrastructure - we can still see the worst response being quite high, roughly double the value of the average. On top of this, the second test also shows a small packet loss.

Going forward the situation doesn’t improve but get actually worse, and when your signal gets to the as57976 nodes, it is already degraded. To put it very simply, what the test is showing is that your signal has from time to time a spike in the response time, from the second node onwards.

Depending on how frequent that is (a test is not enough to determine that), in-game you can get latency spikes of various degrees and duration, a consistent relatively high latency, or even disconnections.

So I am afraid I have to confirm that the suggestion my colleague provided you regarding getting in touch with the ISP would be indeed the best course of action, as there is a very high probability that the problem you are describing comes from the instability your tests are showing from the very first nodes of your connection routing, something I am sure you can understand we have no power over :frowning:

Was in game 5 hours and all was fine. Now start lags, huge packets loss.
My current traceroute result:

Now traceroute results provided by ppl at russian part of forum.
As you can see we all have different internet providers, different routes, but we all meet at as57976.net area and have same symptoms:

  • the problem is not constant, it arises for a while and disappears, then again arises and disappears;
  • we all have huge packets loss and huge pings at same area - as57976.net.

Despite Blizz saying this is most likely an ISP issue, it certainly is not. I’ve been experiencing similar issues myself lately (ever sinse the inclusion of the community search feature - though I’m not sure if that’s related) as well as many friends from different servers and different ISPs. not only this but many get the DC issue as well that many other players are reporting. Something is seriously wrong your end Blizzard.
