High Latency while playing Wotlk Classic on my pc but not on my laptop. Retail works fine

As the title suggests, I am having a problem trying to play wotlk classic on my pc desktop but on laptop not. The pc has a freshly reinstalled from zero windows 10 with new PSU and a 4070 RTX GPU. I’ve tried previous fixes like clearing wow cache, reseting pc, router, install/uninstall wotlk classic, it does not work. Got like 200-500-700ms in World and Local. When I try to play Retail, it works just fine. What should I do?

Hey there,

So latency issues that only appear on a specific system using the same network usually indicates something on the system interfering with the game client itself or something affecting that system’s connection to the local network.

You’ve already done some of what I would recommend and without more specific system information, I only have a couple of things to recommend here.

Let’s reset the in game user options:

  1. Click the blue bnet icon on the bnet app.
  2. Choose settings, then game settings.
  3. Click the reset in game user options button under the correct game listing.
  4. Confirm the changes and close the window.

Try running your system in selective startup mode: https://battle.net/support/article/200483

Create a new administrator account: https://battle.net/support/article/34550

Once the account is created, shut down the computer, wait 60 seconds, restart, log into the new profile and try the app/client.

If that doesn’t solve the issue, then I recommend submitting a ticket with an msinfo attached for further investigation. (instructions for collecting that msinfo report will be on the form.)

Click your name at the top right of this page, click support, click contact support.

It is not a machine or local network problem, multiple players on different machines and network providers experience problems once they enter your IP domains, you can find multiple posts about this same problem in this sub forum.
It would be nice if you would analyse the situation and give us an answer…
