High memory usage

Friend of mine was just telling me that his game crashed after sucking up 7 gigs of memory.

He doesn’t have a load of addons installed, so I don’t think it’s that. Any other suggestions? He checked and it was specifically the wow process eating up so much memory, so I don’t know what’s going on.

My game is sitting around 5-6 gigs on two systems. I do not know if this is something out of the ordinary or abnormal.

He’s assuming it’s the stuttering issue, and while turning off sound “helped” a bit, it’s still a lot higher than it should be.

He logged off and isn’t very happy about it.

This is an issue which occured after pre-patch, its been month+ and blizz dont even want to aknowledge it so dont worry maybe in next expansion theyll finally fix it

Im having system freezes, and memory leaks can cause this as well but if yet to find proof of memory leak but its happening most frequent when going thru many loading screens when virtual ram nears same size as my physical ram
Really frustating to not have Blizzard response all this time yet, i bought 1 year sub as well but its starting to look like this is a wow issue not a hardware issue, cos the later i can first, but if its a wow issue well i can try whatever i want but i still have the problem, if tried playing without addons as well still a problem.

reading some post really makes me highly suspecious of memory leaks, Blizzard does not look very active at all on EU either, every now and then they will post tho, anyway i would check if it also happens without addons cos if it does then it must be a memory leak issue.

Memory leaks here too, Crashing my whole pc. Game keeps taking more and more ram the longer I play, Ends up freezing my whole system. Have to hold the power button.

It’s definitely this game, I’ve been having constant memory leaks since pre-patch. It seems that the game eats double the memory it used to as in Ironforge the usage drops to 2GB and then leaps to 4GB on the Dragon Isles before the usage rapidly increases as I play. No other MMO I have on my PC does this and nor does Overwatch 2. Very scary seeing my PC being crashed.

My best advice until Blizzard decide to take a look at the issue is to exit the game and restart it now and then.

Well my friend is tired of the crashes and has canceled his sub.

Unfortunately :frowning:

I swear its because of deadlock issue that Blizzard is ignoring right now. everyone i asked to check reports the same, its not supose to run like that at all but they just leave it like that which causes problems, it has a deadlock on 1 thread which can be due resources conflicts but also faulty hardware it only happens in games from Blizzard like wow
We might just be experiencing a deadlock rather then a system freeze sound just keeps going when it freezes.

Deadlock issue?

My favorite is that apparently they’re blaming Nvidia and Windows. I’m running 10 and an Nvidia card just fine. My one friend(not this one) is running an AMD card and getting it. This particular friend is running Nvidia and 10 but getting it.

It’s just weird.

Already confirmed that flickering if seen reports about is real and the same issue i had 2 years ago on my gtx 1080 and that issue i fixed 2 years ago by clearing shader cache.

It looks like this but if not ever had this on my 6900 XT

Video is not my own.

If seen vram usage at 10 gb then exit game restart same place 6 gb usage then hour later slowly works it way back up to 7 gb, if there is a vram memory leak i imagine if it froze the system it would freeze the gpu

My game had the blocks in the sky at one point and I updated my Nvidia card to fix it, but that does absolutely nothing to fix the game. My computer should be able to run this game at at least graphics quality six or seven but I have to run it at five or the game is almost certain to crash the computer by overloading the RAM. This expansion is an absolute cracker, it’s just a shame that this isn’t being looked into.
