High world latency - Egypt

Hello,
I been having high world latency that come and go since the beginning of BFA but recently i been having this everyday and the other and other times just everyday and i cant raid anymore coz mostly it happens in the time of the raid. i can feel it outside the raid but it gets worse when i join raid. i tried to use WinMTR for the 3 WOW EU servers

If the latency increases during specific time (especially evenings) it is likely your ISP (or ISP they use) has congestion issues as people return from work etc. and start using Internet Too many users, too little capacity.

the latency increases only in WOW not any other games, Diablo 3, The Division 1 and 2, fortnite, apex legends and other games… all working fine only latency issue in WOW and looking at my MTR most of the problems happen after the packets reach Blizzard servers in Italy.

The biggest latency increases seem to happen when entering or leaving Seabonenet’s network after your ISP’s network and before reaching Blizzard’s network. As for if it’s normal or not… No idea. Personally I see the largest increase of about 20 ms when leaving my ISP and reaching the exchange in NL after sea cable trip (I assume), rest increases are only 1-2 ms per hop.

You can always try to compare results to different hosts and see if they differ and how to get idea what is normal. 100 ms itself does not sound bad for a game like WoW assuming there are no other underlying issues.

that kind of latency is completely normal coz i am so far from the server, having 80-90ms latency considered good where i am. what i am more concerned about is the packet loss thats what makes the game unplayable for me. i stopped mythic raiding with my guild coz of it. suckss

The problem seems to kind of come and go by the looks of your MTR.

In the second MTR result, the line that stands out is the 75% packet loss to et-0-0-3 (which is inside Blizzards network). Not only is the 75% itself an obvious red flag (only 1 in 4 succeeded), the fact that only 4 packets were sent at all is even worse (as all other hosts have been sent a packet 15 times). And then once it tests the route to the next hop et-0-0-67 (which remember, goes through et-0-0-3) it suddenly no longer has packetloss.

That would suggest (to me anyway) that there was a problem anywhere between your pc and the 14th hop for a moment, while it happened to be testing the et-0-0-3 route. Perhaps the entire connection was even down for a little bit.

I would suggest running winMTR a few more times against the same host, and see if you get very different results (i would suspect you might).

In the first MTR result you posted, it seems similar (though not as extreme). 2%~5% packetloss to ae1-br01 but then 0% when going through that same ae1-br01 to reach the further nodes.
