High World MS

Hi!

I wasn’t lucky enough to be one of those helped by Blizzard yesterday and I’m back to square one with not knowing what the problem is.

Is anyone able to tell me where the high world MS is coming from based on the below? It’s not terrible 100% of the time but it’s consistently bad enough that any group content is out of the question:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.101.1
2 2 ms 2 ms 2 ms 41.193.72.236
3 * * * Request timed out.
4 2 ms 2 ms 3 ms 192.168.72.17
5 2 ms 2 ms 2 ms 192.168.72.18
6 3 ms 2 ms 5 ms 41.193.72.61
7 61 ms 61 ms 61 ms 77.246.59.164.liquidtelecom .net [77.246.59.164]
8 59 ms 60 ms 59 ms hu-0-0-0-3.lza-p3-jhb.liquidtelecom .net [41.175.242.4]
9 209 ms 206 ms 212 ms hu-0-0-0-1.lfr-p1-mrs.liquidtelecom .com [5.11.12.113]
10 236 ms 234 ms 234 ms 80.249.208.83
11 367 ms 380 ms 437 ms ae1-br01-eqam1.as57976 .net [137.221.78.33]
12 * * * Request timed out.
13 235 ms 233 ms 234 ms et-0-0-1-pe03-eqam3.as57976 .net [137.221.78.67]
14 242 ms 244 ms 244 ms 185.60.112.157

Hops 3 and 12 consistently time out and 11 is always a higher value than the others.

(Had to break the paste a little to get rid of links).

Any help would be appreciated.

very unstable for me too.

The traceroute shows that latency starts increasing significantly at Hop 9 (5.11.12.113), likely where your ISP connects to international routes. Blizzard’s network (Hop 11 onward) also has a bit higher latency (~234 ms), but the jump at Hop 11 (~367 ms) suggests potential congestion or routing inefficiency at Blizzard’s edge.

The issue seems to be a mix of your ISP’s routing (Hop 9) and possible congestion at Blizzard’s network edge (Hop 11). Contact both for clarity.

Thank you!

I’m from South Africa so the increase in hop 9 was understandable to me. I usually play with 200 MS but it’s been jumping a lot higher. It’s better since they made the change that “wasn’t going to affect me” yesterday but it’s still not stable.

Its horrible. Happend after this reset. My FPS is so high at the moment . this is on blizzard side. Even the forum lags for me, no other games or site lags, only blizzard games and forums.

I have been experiencing these spikes for almost 2 weeks, mostly in the celebration area outside caverns of time, and i would call it “unplayable” from a combat perspective, every second or third ability just has a 2 second dead air, with ms sitting at 250+?
My connection to anything else outside of the game is flawless, 1GB/s cabled connection, and 12-20 latency in every other game on steam, like dota 2, CS 2 , discord chilling at 8ms

I can recall something like this happening on my servers “shard” back in shadowlands specifically in Korthia, rest of the expansion was running smooth but in Korthia you got 5-10 second delay when looting anything, casting a spell, until blizzard looked in to it and idk plugged the leak? This was a thing for almost a month.

It hasn’t been stable for months. I’m from South Africa too and I get spikes of over 1,000ms at times and even higher sometimes. I resorted to getting a VPN but even that hasn’t helped tonight as it it super high even when using it.

Is having high fps a problem?

This has been the same experience for me past 2 weeks, started on Nov 20th somewhere.
Unable to play any Bnet games anymore. I do tracert and I have the same. very very high pings going from hop 8-11, ie LiquidTelecoms JHB to 1. Amsterdam Internet Exchange B.V. this hop alone is congested and unstable. randomly I would have 5k ping then 400-500 for a little then game dc’s over n over.

Don’t know, my ISP is not incharge of this server/exchange, and I don’t think blizzard is incharge of it either. Don’t know who to contact for help.

Sad for South African bnet gamers.

The Netherlands hub causing the issue is a Blizzard client. Google it and you will see they are on Blizzard’s list.

I got here to tell the same, super high unplayable world latency while “home” remains normal. Blizzard please, pay attention to the issue!
World latency is 800 - 1500.

I’m still having the same problem but it’s only during peak times, which is a joke. If I log in at 10AM it’s fine but from like 7PM to 9PM I’m sitting at like 1600 world MS. I was assured when I logged a support ticket that they were working on it and that was 2 weeks ago.

I’ve basically lost a month of game time to this which is fine for them I have a 12-month sub so they’re just stealing from me now.

Yep, had to call off raiding for 3 weeks now. Cant play classic launch. ATM I cant even get into any char on retail, I dc and says retrieving realm list over n over, it’s 21:04PM right now.

Is this the only exchange or route we are forced to use in South Africa? Some VPN I can bypass this with? Who do I actually contact for help to investigate and sort this out.

I’m sure they are well aware of it given that a blue actually posted in this thread. But they don’t give a continental. It’s shameful behaviour if you consider the fact that they’re owned by a trillion dollar IT company now yet they cannot assure their playerbase on EU of a decent playing experience. I can understand if this game was F2P but it’s not - we’re paying our hard-earned money on a monthly basis and we’re treated like trash.

Also a VPN isn’t even doing anything atm. Latency remains high whether I connect from London, Stockholm, Marseille, Frankfurt.

I have checked with absolutely every single person that could possibly help me, but the facts are simple, it is ONLY WoW that’s a problem therefore it must be WoW that’s the problem. They’re aware of the problem, they just don’t care and frankly failure to act, to me, constitutes negligence.

If the game wasn’t actually trash at the moment, I might be upset enough to take it further.
