Higher mythic + question

Hello guys.

This is my first time playing lock.I started doing 15’s so i have been wondering, why does everyone suggest Haunt over Grimoire of Sacrifice, when Grimoire does 10% of my damage at the end if not more?

My personal oppinion is that Grimoire is much better, but 10% dmg on boss would come in handy, since our ST damage is not that great.

Any advice from higher score player would be appreciated, because i cant find any info on it.

Because its Meta and nobody should think for themselves when it comes to talents according to most peoples mindsets

On boss, on aoe packs, or both?
I haven’t tried this talent in a while, i’ll do it during my lunch break, but are you sure you read that 10% correctly? It sounds astoundingly high and would indeed be a quite a no brainer if correct haha

Otherwise, maybe it’s a matter of burst control? With the 10% on demand of haunt, maybe it’s better when you need to burst down a target? (since grimoire is random)

no, it’s because the talent is trash.

you lose out damage and utility from your pet.

The idea behind the talent choices (including siphon life and as you pointed out, haunt) is that your AoE, esp. if you are playing dreamweaver NF is just solid. Thus, you actually choose ST talents to make sure you are not awful in ST as AoE is strong already anyway.

Did you account for the damage your pet normally does when it’s not sacrificed?

So i tried it with my crappy geared lock and my pet itself already deals between 9 and 11% of my total dps (single target), so if you add the damage of haunt AND the buff it applies to al your dots, then grimoire indeed is garbage.

How much damage did u do on big packs haunt specced?

You wont be able to cast haunt on more than 2 mobs vs big packs, and even then, you will lose additional 2 seed casts therefore about 50-80 k damage in total, just to gain 10 k damage done thanks to haunt?

And you man,i shouldn’t be explaining this to u,because it was supposed to be common knowledge, but in order for grimoire to have solid effect,u need at least some haste (faster dots=faster procs) and at least some int/crit.

I mean, you cant go in as 210 ilvl affli lock, and expect your grimoire to do same damage as 238 ilvl lock’s…

Blorki

Yes,and considering its single target,it cant even begin to compare

Maybe there’s some logic using it for 17+ but for 15’s it makes no sense, especially lower keys, because everything dies in seconds. We killed 2 packs before first boss in SD in less than 30 seconds on 15,and grimoire was second in damage, behind Seed.

The frequency of your ticks do not change the proc rate of the spell.
If grimoire is 10% of your dps at 0 haste, it will also be 10% at 40000 haste, especially since haste affects pets too.

When you play GoS you lose pet utility and pet damage and on top of that Haunt damage buff which is much better on single target.
That 10% overall damage you see in dmg metter from playing GoC is nothing.

I tried it in post season. Here details with total dmg SD14, even if numbers will raise atm, percentage still will be close.

As u can see damage is pretty low and can’t beat even pet damage. SD is pretty aoe oriented.

Emmmm. why?
