You may have heard of the player-alert addon spy, which warns of nearby players as soon as they cause a log event, which can be very handy in pvp-rich areas.
That said, I was a bit annoyed by the boring dingdingding it always makes. Thus, I looked into the sound folder and thought “Hmm, in earlier times, we were able to change gun sounds in wow for example…. why not replace this addon’s sounds with ringtones then?”
So, as hard rock and metal fan, I replaced the most relevant sound files in Spy’s sound folder:
Detected-Kos (AC/DC - Thunderstruck)
Detected-Kosaway (AC/DC - Back in Black)
Detected-Kosguild (Metallica - Enter Sandman)
Detected-Nearby (AC/DC - Hell’s Bells)
Detected-Race (AC/DC - Rock n’ roll train)
Detected-Stealth (AC/DC - Highway to hell)
It is just amazing now… every time, let’s say in an area with a kill quest, the addon spams mostly hell’s bells and very often highway to hell now. I can’t get out of amazement and laughing at the same time… pvp can be so funny with the right sound xD
