As memory serves there’s at least 14 Alliance quests in the Hinterlands, though not all are picked up within the Hinterlands. There’s the long Saving Sharpbeak chain that will require a trip to Zul’Farak for it to be fully completed, others picked up from Dustwallow and Tanaris.
The Hinterlands forms a staple of my Alliance questing loop in the late L40s, running it in tandem with Tanaris.
It is not a surprise that Blizzard started doing the Human land Orc ocations first, then made some Alliance quests up to lvl 35-sh, went making Horde locations and suddenly found the they are missing on deadlines so most effort went to lvl 40-60 locations and making them as neutral as possible.
Some zones like Thermore had literally unfinished quest chains. But when I finished Dustshallow March on Horde there was conplete story as most Kalimdor locations of the Horde.
Now I must admit that Tarren Mill has also some 30-35 gaps and you can’t quest there without grabbing several levels from SM, but it is not ever near the gap Alliance has in 30-40 range.
Hinterlands is one of the underwhelming zones for alliance. Hardly any Q there at all. Pretty much a original-Silithus situation alliance version only.
I always liked Hinterlands as Alliance. It’s a haunting and “aggressive” zone, the enemies abound, and you draw a deep breath when reaching either Shindigger’s camp, Quel’danil Lodge, or the beach.
Yes, but several quests are chained from elsewhere.
For alliance it’s mostly a filler zone to adventure a bit, and fix the experience when lagging behind. I normally end up there around 50, gathering Puppelyverbos, moonkin down, and while at it, searching for the lost gryphon and hunting some trolls. I used to get the Mallet but it’s not necessary anymore.
Around its level range I’d likely be finishing STV, picking Feralas or Tanaris. The dark iron areas are there but I didn’t set foot there in 13 years. (Random itch to solo BRD.)
