I was excited to play Holy Paladin for Season of Discovery. I am an experienced healer but Paladin is new for me. In dungeons it’s working just fine, but yesterday I was the first time in the BFD raid and was honestly gutted to see how lackluster it is compared to the priest who was the other healer. I understand that it’s only lvl 25 and that Holy Paladin (maybe?) is just not there yet, but that leads me to the question for this forum: How and when will it get better?
I never played a high lvl holy paladin but I know they were viable raiders in classic, so when and how is that turning point?
We cleared BFD just fine btw. It was really the comparison with the priest that just shocked me a bit.
don’t be discouraged.
Priests have a “broken” skill with their Penance rune.
not to mention prayer of mending being very effective.
Come gear and level holy paladins should be catching up.
Especially as most of the Heal/SP gear coms from BFD

At this point in BFD you basically organize your group so that you have at least 2 priest healers. No other healer can even hold a candle to them. Penance and prayer of mending are extremely mana efficient and generally overtuned. I think a resto druid could potentially work with their wild growth proccing prayer of mending on a group, but I know from experience that holy paladins struggle hard. It will get better once you get holy shock at lvl 40.
