Holy Paladin is awful to play currently. Here’s why;
Forbearance - with how fast paced the game is, you basically have a 30 second CD on all your defensive saves.
Casting - You have to primarily try to cast to generate holy power, you cant keep up with the burst. You can use WoG and Holy Shock as instant heals, but then what? Nothing else outside of Holy Shock and Crusader Strike thats instant is going to generate you anything, only casted heals.
Melee - You basically have no choice but to play melee wings, unlike Fistweavers who get multiple damaging abilities, Holy Paladin gets crusader strike. And it doesnt heal outside of melee wings which has a much longer CD than a fistweaver getting Ancient Teachings.
Honestly, Holy Paladin right now feels awful in comparison to pretty much every other healer.
I think some improvements could be;
Allow spent holy power to reduce the cool down on party members forbearance (Holy only). So, 3 spent reduces by 3 seconds.
Make Flash of Light reduce the cast time of Holy Light by 33%, stacking up to 3 times.
Sack off Melee Wings and give them denouce as a ranged damage ability. It could deal damage and reduce targets damage dealt by a % for a short time. Crusader Strike could reduce denouce cast time by 50%, stacking up to 2 times.
I dont know, it just needs reworking or some tlc imo.

I’ve mained holy paladin for over 5 years and Dragonflight is the first time I am not being able to play my main at all.
It’s not fun or strong, and compared to all other healers why would you ever pick a holy paladin.
Holy paladin needs some changes, and not only 4% healing increase on word of glory because that won’t change anything.
The suggestions Cow made is actually very good.
But the point still stands, SOMETHING needs to happen, I haven’t been able to play the whole last season on my main character but instead, I was forced to play my alts.
Blizzard please do something about this, because if you ask anyone about how holy paladin is doing they all will say that they suck.
Sad part is how much effort do you have to put to heal. Not only you have to be in melee with melee wings and eat all the cc, you have to press on cd judgment, crusader strike, hammer of wrath, holy shock, flash of light, WoG . Meanwhile on my disc I don’t even have to put half effort of this.
I didn’t expect hpal to drop so low. This class in pvp compared to other healers is like riding a bike while other classes are ferrari. Even the monk that was weak now stomped on the hpal.
I know 2s is no longer a bracket, but playing 2s gives you an idea of how your healing class matches up against others.
Playing hpal in 2s feels like you are lvl 65 while the other healer class is max level max gear. It just makes no sense. Game barely started, we are at 145k mana, checking opponent healer, 258k mana and spamming… like what.
Agreed, whenever I meet a hPal he’s often the target instantly while I usually dont like to open on healers.
I was a hPal main from vanilla toll wotlk. When they got holy power I lost interest in the spec. Been playing the spec for my first years to never touch it again.
It’s funny cus in order to cap conquest in shuffle you have to win 3 or more matches, winning 1 match with the current state of hpala is a feat in itself so it’s actually almost impossible to cap your conquest =)
When you play melee wings, do you actively stay melee during wings to hit crusader strikes, or do you try to play far and just rely on judgment heals ?
Also how strong will casger build be with 4set ? Right now prism heals more than a wog, so a 40% buffed prism giving a « free » wog right after, every 18-19seconds, seems like one of the stronger tier sets
Love hpal, but I feel like I do waaay better on caster build and never go the hang of meleewings (maybe i play too dumb zug and just run in to hit stuff then run out too late to go back to casted heals)
It really depends on what you face, if it’s a mage i usually dont bother with crusader strike, but stay ranged and use hammer to generate holy power and judgment to extend melee wings
As for the 4 set I’m not actually sure if it will be worth it, the biggest issue with hpala right now is the mana, if we have to use prism every 20 seconds which costs 6.5k mana aswell we’ll oom even faster so im not sure if its gonna be worth it, will have to wait and see
abx has been standing up for hpal all of dragonflight.
