After quite some time doing 5 man content on the beta (Heroic and mythic instances) i got a few words about how holy paladin feels with the new talents and current playstyle (No notes about power etc it’s all about the FEEL of the spec)
Herald of the sun - It’s a cool idea and good feeling to have eternal flame “back”, However all the different sources of healing makes it super hard to understand / get a feeling of what buttons to use and when. We got so many small heals interacting with different abilities so it feels like I have to play chess every time I try to build my healing and sometimes it’s working and sometimes not. The amount of different healing sources are really unsatisfying.
Lightsmith - this one feel a bit more straightforward, i buff someone and they do more output, problem here i feel is that i can’t choose what spell to give who it just rotates and i kinda have to hope the right one is ready for when i need it (Or just mash it on cd as that’s what i end up doing it’s too much micromanage work) A choice node(if u wanna have the holy Bulwark or the sacred weapon (or give us 2 different abilities so we can choose what we wanna use))
Class talents - No real comments it’s no real changes from DF and it works
Holy talents.
Light of the martyr - I really like this idea and it’s an interesting trade off, really good job!
Tyr’s Deliverance (and boundless salvation)- This spell feels really weird for me as a holy paladin and has been since the rework. I do understand the idea about having a “caster paladin spec” but having a hot that increases the amount healed with the heals is a weird way, If you changed the healing increase to sit on the paladin and not be connected to the hot it might be easier to feel the power but right now its as a lot of different paladin abilities just RNG if the target have it during a raid fight and if ur healing gets the increase or not - I don’t enjoy when i can’t control how well my healing is.
Blessing of seasons - This got the same problem as the holy armaments when i need X blessing it’s more than likely on cd or i have to plan my use several minutes ahead the change on blessing of summer is a decent one and way more interesting then the DF one but again i feel a choice node or just remove the different blessings so we only have the summer one would feel way better (again lets me control the way i do healing)
Avenging crusader - This feels amazing to have “back” the removal of holy power makes it feel so amazing, that combined with awakening is a really fun playstyle even tho its not “controlled healing” it’s fun and engaging but with all the other different RNG healing it sometimes feel like another talent that i just press and hope my team survive.
All in all i say the holy talents are decent i myself enjoy the melee play style way more then the casting (standing in melee casting plenty of hard casted spells feels weird ) If blizzard want there to be a Caster holy paladin play style it should be a talent node that pretty much removes the ability to play melee and also tags the paladin as a ranged due to the way encounter works for melees.
As I have so many small cooldowns and no one of them feels powerful like a “real” cooldown, it’s just rotational abilities and if you for some reason dont have one ready you are kinda screwed.
Again, My biggest problem is the amount of different ways we do healing, From Glimmer, downlight, tyrs, Greater judgment, sun sear and more… it feels like i have a ton of different abilities that got almost no Control over its super weird
