Hello all, I decided to main a holy priest this expansion coming from resto druid and holy paladin. I liked the big phat single target heals and I am having a blast.
Having said that I understand that HPriest is a single target healing beast but why their AoE is so so so bad? I noticed some problems, for example Prayer of Healing. Why is it so bad? It crits for me for 150k, normal heal around 70k. With HP pools starting from 4 to 5 million HP this is exceptionally bad, why is that?
Also Divine Hymn, healing for around 800k in 7 secs? Wtf, why do these even exist? Am I doing something wrong? Is there something I missed out, some talent or something that makes those good? These numbers are straight up pitiful and those two spells are talents too, not even baseline.
AoE Heal for holy is pretty strong when it comes to raiding. PoH is only used while your CoH buff is running. In this time you spam PoH to pump and generate new sanctify charges.
Also holy priest in raid is all about buffing your own and ally healing with your archon halo and hymn.
The buff to healing is the strong part of hymn, not the raw heal it does by itself.
So with CoH+PoH-> sanctify, DH, Halo and Salvation holy priest is actually a power house in AoE and spot healing at the same time in raids.
Its also important to always keep PoM on CD and track when youll reach the 50 PoM jumps to trigger apotheosis to use this window to generate even more sanctifies while having stronger CoH and PoH.
Only in M+ its not even worth to think about casting PoH and even sanctity is more used to buff your naaru.
well yes, raiding is basically halo afk mode. it doesnt move health bars but overall in combination with other healers its great.
in m+ it is just atrocious.
you can go orcacle and spam gs heal on yourself for massive overhealing but that is so unfun and also the overhealing spread has a delay which really sucks.
the best bet of aoe healing is halo and pumping out instant casts while pom is jumping.
it is enough for most big dmg events but unfortunately the aoe dmg events happen more often than once a minute which makes hpriest scuffed to deal with it.
because it is great as pad healing which subsitute others aoe healing so altogether health bars are moving.
do you really think that those 200-300k halo ticks are doing meaningful jumps to a hp bar if 1 mio aoe ticks are flying left and right in m+?
as i said, holy priest is great on meters in raid because of pom, auto renew, coh and halo
it has a great sustain profile, but this is really garbage for m+
for yea holy priest is great for raid and the worst healer in m+ more news maybe next expac
Priest definitely needs some love with Aoe healing, spell like POH Renew, Power Shield etc needs some love , it amazed me as a new priest healer how much hard is for blizzard to acknowledge this . Like on my fire mage we were struggling for 2 weeks and blizzard ââfixed us somehowââ , on disc and holy priest i see no interest from developers side.
well i have started to believe that they do it on purpose or they are incompetent mostly because of their pushed diversity hires.
So, other classes suffer too. An example, demonology warlock last row talent âimmutable hatredâ hits a player for 0.41% of his 7 milion life!! This is of course Shadowlands numbers, but remains there ignored and untouched.
You may consider numbers of fire mage too. Shadowland or dragon flight numbers.
I havent tested holy myself yet this expansion, but I think the best way to do aoe healing as holy now is with oracle premonition that gives healing increase and distributes overhealing to nearby allies. Coupled with the increased healing on yourself from another oracle talent, along with guardian angel, you can simply spam heal yourself and it will do a lot of healing to your nearby teammates. This has a 2 min cd however, so its not something you can rely on in m+ and elsewhere with frequent aoe dmg going out.
Disc atm has really good aoe healing on a short cd, so its better suited for m+.
Holy doesnât have an AoE heal button. The best way to do AoE right now is to go Oracle and use Premonition of Piety, Guardian Spirit yourself and overheal yourself as much as possible - that does really good numbers.
Outside of this just:
Donât sit on Holy Words
Donât sit on Premonitions
Keep Prayer of Mending on cooldown
Build and spend properly
And you should be alright.
Maybe itâs because I play Holy all the time but I donât think healing average Joe keys (currently 7 and 8) is that bad.
There are moments like City of Threads - The last Nerub before that last room with Venom Spray or Dark Pulse at Coaglamation that were completely unhealable couple times however the higher keys I do, the less damage the group takes there which leads me to believe that these moments are a DPS skill check instead of a Healer skill check.
So far, the biggest impact on a key completion has the tank, in my opinion.
The best tank so far is Prot Warr as they still play Dragonflight and donât need any healing. When they tank, I do below 500k overall HPS for the run which is around M+2 level of healing and this can happen in a +7. A simple pressence of a prot warr reduces the dungeon difficulty by 5 levels.
The second is Guardian Druid. The neat thing about them is that you can fully reset their cooldown on Barkskin with Symbol of Hope.
Third are Prot Paladins. For all the complaining about how weak they are, I think they are actually ok, not great, but ok.
Fourth are Demon Hunters. They are hit and miss, either they are like Paladins or like Blood DKs. Iâm not really keen on healing them.
The last are Blood DKs. They are just unhealable in a +7 and above. Iâve experienced multiple moments where both me and BDK had 1 mill HPS, the group still couldnât survive and we failed the key. For this reason, I avoid them in the group finder.
I canât speak on Brewmasters because, so far, Iâve only healed one.
Havenât thought of that, good tip thank you. For the time being I parked my Holy Priest and healing in general. It really depends on the group, especially nowadays with how bad m+ is, I had some awesome runs and some miserable ones. Sadly, the miserable ones seems to be more frequent. I am leveling a Prot Warrior now but I really liked my Priest, will surely re-visit him come season 2. Thanks for the tips, much appreciated.
