I wonder, and this is the place to find out, how we Holy Priest are doing for dps in relation to other healing specs?
You have spare time in a dungeon and you are helping to push an ontime key so you do a bit of dps…have they hit the nail on the head now and made us more competetive with the recent buffing or are we still lagging behind?
As i do not see anyone has responded yet il just give some examples.
In the MDI time trials Holy priest is the healer of choice.
Inside of the top 10 highest IO mythic plus players number 3, 5, 6, 8, and 10 are all holy priests.
I do not know about the dps but it sure seems like Holy priest is doing quite strongly in mythic plus at least right now.
With an Alt holy at 22k rio score i can say that Holy dps rocks (just below shammy) but only if you go Kyr with boom. you will get it down to 1min cd. and you can easily be around 3-6k DPS overall depending on the pulls and the less dps’ you have to heal doing boom
I feel quite happy running 10-12s but only really dabble a bit with damage perhaps worth doing a little more ensure keys are pushed through but not at the expense of players dying…i remember back someway where i would dps and the tank would just say its not worth it the dps isn’t enough just heal and we’ll all just glide through. Ill up it a bit take my game to the next level i suppose so to speak, cheers you 2
Holy Priest DPS is problematic in my opinion not that its OP or anything but the fact that people see high m+ players playing with great players than expecting their Priest to do really good aswell while they at the same time tanks basiclly all avoidable mechaniqs.
Holy Priest is really tied to the group dodging things and interupt/stunning the right things and since basiclly nothing outside of Kyrian Covenant Ability is basiclly either healing or damage and even during the Covenant Ability there are times you need to stop and do real heals instead of spamming it.
I’ve litterly had runs in the same dungeon +15 in the same week with different groups where my healing was almost four times as high. So basiclly if your playing with good players you have quite alot of time to do damage but if you play with average players your damage potential goes way down.
Its not like Holy Pala where your dps/hps is mixed together and one supports the other.
So if your like me that plays mostly +15s for weekly vault and mostly with pugs your damage experience with Holy Priest won’t be great but if you surround yourself with great players you can do some truely epic things. Of course you will have those really good groups aswell sometimes where you feel like you basiclly need to do nothing and can just act as a 4th dmg dealer.
This is pretty much how I feel about it. I’ve been running a holy priest for the last 3 weeks and haven’t tried healing anything over +5 yet, and that only because in most groups I struggle to keep up with the healing. I rarely feel like I have downtime to get some dps in, because I’m spending all my time healing players (any yeah, I’m running FC).
Unless I find a dedicated group of good players to play with regularly, I just don’t see that DPSing alongside my healing is ever going to be viable in most PUGs. Luckily I haven’t had anyone complain about my DPS yet, but I’m assuming that that’s still coming.
Interestingly, this issue vanishes in raids. I often do really good HPS without even breaking a sweat.
Good luck if you even get a chance to DPS. Most of the time your team will be so bad you’ll have to spend your time spam healing just to keep them alive.
Very good. Holy priest is a top healer overall in both m+ and raiding currently. It is in it’s best state in long time, finally being superior to disc priest.
