Holy Priest M+ Improvements

Hello,

as someone who has been maining Holy Priest for years and plays it passionately in Mythic+, I would like to provide some feedback on the current state of its utility.

At the moment, Holy Priest feels noticeably behind compared to other healers when it comes to group utility. While our healing output and general playstyle are fun and rewarding, the lack of key tools such as an interrupt, a stronger raid/group cooldown, or utility options like battle resurrection or Bloodlust/Heroism makes it harder to justify bringing a Holy Priest in high-level dungeons.

Some potential adjustments that could help close this gap:

  • Adding an interrupt (or another active utility spell) to support the group.
  • Reducing the cooldown on Mass Dispel, which is one of our defining abilities.
  • Making Power Infusion stronger again, so it feels impactful and desired.
  • Providing access to a unique utility like a battle resurrection or Heroism/Bloodlust.

Holy Priest doesn’t need all of these tools, but right now we feel significantly limited compared to other healing specs. Even giving us one of these options would go a long way in making Holy more competitive and desirable in Mythic+.

Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback, and I really appreciate the work that goes into shaping Priest gameplay in Midnight.

The problem with Holy’s utility is that it all comes from the general talent tree. So whatever improvements you’d make there would also improve Discipline. For example:

  • Moving “Silence” from the Shadow to the General tree - Also applies to Discipline.
  • Reducing the cooldown on Mass Dispel - Also applies to Discipline.
  • Making Power Infusion stronger - Also applies to Discipline.
  • Providing access to a unique utility like a battle resurrection or Heroism/Bloodlust. - Could also apply to Discipline.

Holy would need completely new spells in its own tree. The only unique utility Holy has is “Symbol of Hope” which isn’t great and it’s even going to be removed in Midnight - which is good imo.

It makes sense that people focus a lot on the lack of utility but that’s not what’s holding us back which is evident by the fact that Discipline is the more desired spec even though it has less CC than Holy.

In my opinion, what’s holding Holy back is its lack of healing - AoE healing to be specific. M+ is all about dealing with 5-player AoE damage and almost every healer out there has some kind of a spammable 5-player healing button … except for Holy Priests who are stuck with being single target healers.

If we got a way to create a proper AoE healing build, our problems would be largely fixed.
