Not gonna lie, having big busted nightelf females having flirtatious approaches at my characters expecting ERP and/or those that use the F word casually make me cringe really loudly and makes me wonder why is this allowed in a game like this.
Really hope one day this game will have an admin team to take care of offensive and adult language.
Like FFXIV, if you make a false report you get strikes. But if its legit with the chat logs, they breaking the rules and get punished.
This could also take care of toxic players abusing other players in pvp and PUGs!
Next level cringe to excuse breaking chat rules+being a douche on purpose on a sensitive topic âbecause other people are also doing stuff we shouldnt doâ.
Trying to equate hate speech with mildly irritating someone makes you look like a bit of a soggy melon, my dude.
Like, I didnât think that âYou shouldnât make peopleâs lives worse without a good reasonâ is a statement thatâs considered controversial or debatable.
I wish someone really intelligent and handsome had pointed out in extreme detail how this is a really basic way of looking at things and based in extreme levels of privilege.
Claiming that to have zero control over how your character is and act at all and itâs all just IC and OOC is quite bull and a bit pretentious, because itâs still ultimatly you, the person, who chooses deliberatly what your character says, do and think.
Our RP characters have no real agency outside of our own concious choices.
Sexual orientation in roleplay seems to come up quite rarely up, in the circles I roleplay. And when it has come up, itâs private enough so it remains out of sight.
That being said, echoing most whatâs been posted, I donât think itâs an interesting character trait to be a homophobe. Most of these traits are meant to supplement roleplay experience, so having that tag sounds like a lot of negative attention for little roleplay gain.
On the other hand, my old crone tauren would lament such a pair not being able to bear a child, but remind them that there are many orphans awaiting for a happy home. Now where does that land one? I donât know, again, Iâm involved mostly in roleplay where this topic does not come up.
I asked a simple question regarding another sensitive subject to quite a lot of people since we talking about zero tolerance.
No need to get butt hurt over a simple question I doubt it will make the situation any better I have already stated that I am not comparing the two I only mentioned another group who do value the lives of animals.
I think the consensus is that this is fine because it makes sense for a lot of races/traditionalists, and doesnât involve spouting slurs/actively oppressing a marginalised minority. If this happened IC, Iâd just remind the character that Azeroth has a lot of post-war orphans that need families.
It is quite funny for me to say âhey maybe donât equate these two thingsâ for your reply to be âwhat man Iâm just equating these two thingsâ
If you actually paid attention and read the entire post instead of just copying the part where people did quote I said that I support the LGBT fully and I have done things with rules as well within my own guild.
I just asked if zero tolerance is possible if so would it also step towards other sensitive subjects as well such as vegetarians.
I am not comparing the two, I mentioned two different subjects.
But it is not neccesary to the subject here which is why I am not trying to push it further but defend that I am not comparing the two.
So lets just avoid me mentioning it and lets focus on the subject at hand since clearly there were some misunderstanding.
Iâm not sure if vegetarianism is as sensitive a subject - bringing this into discussion is very unnecessary.
Coming back on track, Iâd say if one wants to RP a scum of the earth type of character, there are ways you can still RP that in Azeroth without resorting to homophobia. It does not exist in Azeroth, homophobic language does not exist and so on.
You can hate on everyone without being a racist or homophobe (((Iâd want to say misogynist as well, but Iâve a feeling it exists pretty heavily in Azeroth? )))
The answer to that is no, and really the only other things I could see being offensive IC that transcend the game and could be hurtful to others are characters acting in misogynistic fashions, or human characters treating humans of different skin colours in a lesser manner. Barring that, there might be some roleplay topics that are probably in poor taste - a character seeking to end their own life can be distressing to others, sadly something I have seen first hand, or re-enacting things which would be immensley traumatic if done in real life.
The sad part is that it probably does. But I would like to imagine that instances of such are from older expansions where Blizzard werenât giving much of a care in regards to issues as they (hopefully) would today. I think most roleplayers have the tact to avoid misogyny as a roleplaying topic.
World of Warcraft is both very pro-feminist as in both men and women are soldiers in the armies, valued as great warriors and so on.
Then example Night Elves -HAD- to clarify that ended with Warcraft 3 era quite gender roles such as females were the warriors and priestess while most men were mainly druids.
In Azeroth, you can literally raise the dead; capture a soul in a gem for eternity; pledge yourself to an unholy demon; worship the bringer of the end times⌠and itâs hating queer people that you choose to be your âbad guyâ trait. If anything, thatâs a little underwhelming.
