I have a feeling we’re just making circles, after keeping up with both threads. The same points are being discussed over and over again, with the only difference being the names of chars that bring them up. How many times was the “but how about belves who want others to reproduce” angle mentioned? I lost track.
We’ll come to yet another conclusion in circa 200 posts when someone new jumps in to offer their homophobic take that’s already been said several times.

All I’ve seen from Zebanji so far is him saying that if your brother’s friend’s sister’s cousin’s dog has exhibited even a crumb of homophobia that anybody even remotely related to said dog is now wholly obligated to go out of their way to call this person out
I don’t know why people need to throw shots from one end of the hall to the other when there are likely people stood next to the person that a certain somebody takes issue with + are likely far more involved / closer to that person who can challenge their opinion on something (if they feel so inclined, but I agree homophobia = bad as a rule of thumb, and I believe all sensible people probably do too) rather than what is essentially picking somebody at random on the street and then saying “please tell my cousin who you have never met his homophobic views are abhorrent when his partner could do it themselves”
If it’s something you take issue with, challenge it, but you shouldn’t just indirectly demand people to stand next to you out of thin air and join you to own people in debate

I think really - once the people who write the game story said “this does not exist” that is very much that. If you’re still doing that roleplay you’re creating headcanon in direct opposition of that fact just to specifically roleplay this one thing. I think that is no different than roleplaying a Orgrimmar yaungol but kind of way, way nastier
I think if we were roleplaying in a setting where homophobia was something written into the story and a canonical aspect of the gameworld, there would be a way stronger case for doing this stuff on a strictly IC basis (though obviously, even then you would be smart know your audience and not force RP on people who find it unpleasant OOC) but that simply and very very specifically is not the case with World of Warcraft
