Honestly, we should have had an Engineer class

Playing Torchlight II really made me want this bad, and it would have made more sense than Evoker. I mean, engineering has been pivotal in Azeroth since the very beginning. How is it that goblins and gnomes still haven’t worked out how to become playable engineers?? We have mechagnomes for crying out loud, but no tinkerer/engineer class? Come on man. Evoker was a mistake.
In Torchlight Engineers can summon healer bots that replenish health and mana over time, receive charge on their melee attacks that can be used for more powerful abilities, they have shields, can wield 2h cannons, throw spider drones that crawl around run towards enemies then explode. All of this stuff would fit into WoW superbly, but no, we got lizards instead.
Missed opportunity Blizz.

I do not think it is , BUT tinker/engineer could have been added as well in my view a very long requested class.

I only say it’s a mistake because we won’t see a new class for a very, very long time. We should have had the tinkerer/engineer first, and it’s a class that could be played by a variety of races - not just limited to dragons.
You’d be surprised by the number of people who like spending their time rerolling different race and class combinations (I’m one of them). Being able to roll an engineer on a few different races gives us a lot more content and reason to stay subscribed than a single Evoker would, so it would have made more sense from a business standpoint as well imho.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve nothing against Evoker. I just wish it didn’t exist.

It is one of my fac part’s of the game trying and playing different roles/specs/classes so i agree with you

I absolutely love evoker tbh, but tinkerer/goblineer would be a perfect for wow.

They could have themed abilities like shamans (turrets look a certain way, or bomb bots), or a mechasuit for tanking, they could use electrical energy to heal or damage. There are so many possiblities, it would be such a cool addition to the game.

I don’t wish for evoker to not exist tho, I really enjoy Preservation it’s a fantastic spec.

I really want to try it, is it easy to learn and play or a spec to avoid if you are stupid like me

I just finished watching Avengers: Age of Ultron on Disney+ and now I am imagining a Gnome in a Veronika-like mech suit shouting “stand the ~blam!~ down!” while charging at enemies.

I would’ve loved that too… it would’ve also been a good chance to create some kind of new role, like a dps specialized in heavy utility, to deal with complex mechanics for the group in raids and dungeons.

It would feel something like “Yes! I have a gadget to deal with that!”

I don’t know why but technology classes in fantasy MMO’s always fancy me, be it engineer in GW2, technist in Aion or Machinist in FF14. I always love playing those. Probably because in a sense technology is the polar opposite of magic.

I agree especially because it could have been tank, healer and dps. (A real heabot😎)

But i do see why it probably won’t ever happen. Can’t imagine setting up turrets or whatever it might look like would fit well into today’s landscape of wow that keeps getting more and more fast paced.

And it would probably be weird / confusing with the engineering profession.

how other then its what you want

Yeah I think Tinkerer would have been a better name for WoW to differentiate it from Engineering profession.

Torbjorn-like turrets may be a little OP, especially with the permanent slows we’ve got going on in the game right now. I’d imagine the little robots that Tinkerers could summon would be more utility-based. Having said that, we need the spider drones from Torchlight II. You throw them out and they chase after the closest group of targets before exploding. If there’s no enemies around they will just follow you until some show up. They would be pretty dangerous to take into M+ dungeons lol
