I just did some maffs, as per usual. I’ve always been wondering about this, but only now I really just realised how stupidly out of touch with reality it is.
So look at this:
In 2v2, you get 160 honor per win.
I’ve won around 10000 arenas on my account.
That puts me at 1.600.000 honor gained through RATED 2v2 arenas.
1 honor level is 8.800 honor.
That means I’ve farmed ± 182 honor levels queuing 2v2 rated arena.
Now.
Let’s be generous and assume every arena pops in 10 seconds (it does not). That would be 27 hours waiting for pops. make that 6x with arena prep room, that’s 162 hours with that. Another 10 seconds (generously) to jump out and queue up again, another 27 hours. Now every 2s arena can take anywhere between 30 seconds and 8 minutes, so let’s average that out at 3 minutes, because I typically play at 2.1 - 2.4 MMR, that makes it 162x3 so 486 hours.
Added up, that’s 702 hours. I obviously won only around half of all arenas played, so that’s 1404 hours of 2v2s played, raw. Then there’s gearing, then there’s other content, yada yada.
I’m honor level 388. 388 - 182 = 206 honor levels.
I’ve played around 700 BGs total, at most, out of which around 400 I’ve won. I’ve also played around 3000 3v3 arenas, out of which I’ve won around 1500.
That means that those 1500 3v3 wins and 400 BG wins have yielded me MORE honor than 10000 2v2 wins.
This is not a “boost 2v2 honor pls” post. This is a "what the HELL is honor levelling in this game. You don’t get increasingly more honor for playing at higher CR, it does not reward you for playing the most played rated brackets WHATSOEVER, and the grind just overall completely makes absolute zero sense.
You’re telling me I’ve rawdogged some 2500 freaking hours in this PvP just WINNING, and I’m not honor level 500 yet? Spending 5 HOURS of RAW PLAYTIME to get ONE honor level?
How can you ever possibly demand that from literally anybody? That’s 104 DAYS, RAW PLAYTIME!
How can you not reward more honor for higher level performance? Higher CR players do not need honor anyway, and not to mention you can just make it “experience”, instead of honor specifically. There’s absolutely no way you should ever need to WIN 55 RATED 2v2 ARENAS to get ONE LEVEL. Especially after the originaly Legion launch levelling abuse. It’s absolute nonsense. And yes, I know that you can obtain much more honor playing RBGs, it’s clear as the sky from the numbers I’ve provided, but that still does not even remotely justify the fact that not only are we ignoring rewarding better performance and skill, but we’re also still expecting people to WIN 5 RATED BGS to get ONE LEVEL, which easily is 2-3 hours of queuing for an average joe. Not to mention rated BGs are gone in a week.
The level says nothing about your actual skill, it does not put proficiency into the calculation. It’s not a skill check, it’s a grind check.
IF it’s a grind check, how do you ever expect a person to play thousands of hours raw to get the maximum reward. I’ve been Elite 8 times, and I’m 78 % there.
What in the ABSOLUTE hell.
(Did I mention the current fastest way of farming honor levels is spamming Comp Stomp? So this achievement is quite literally just another PvE achievement as of now. It’s coming next week, 21-28. 8. btw
