My name is Allianceorc and I am a founding member of the organisation ‘The Alliance Embassy’.
We are a group of ex-Horde members whom seeks peace and unity on Azeroth and worlds beyond, and the very first roadblock is the existence of the Horde rather than becoming one with the honourable Alliance.
The Horde as a faction does not exist.
…well, it should not exist. Not any longer.
It should be a thing of the past.
However, the writers keeps shoehorning extensions of it’s lifetime into the story. It is called Horde Bias.
I cannot list every possible destructive simping without being here writing this all night, but I will give three examples.
1: The story arch of Sylvanas. Steve Danuser is definitely sleeping with a Sylvanas-pillow. The Fourth War should never had happened.
2: The Horde existing as an entity after Siege of Orgrimmar at the end of Mists of Pandaria. Everyone should have learned their lessons after seeing how Garrosh Hellscream was allowed to tyrannise all and everyone. At least the Horde leadership structure should have been replaced by a council with balanced representation as a temporary measure until a faction unification could be in place.
3: Garrosh Hellscream not jumping headfirst down Halaa basin during TBC. We all know the mental state he was in, and somehow making him warchief was the better option? Think of all the lives and all the destruction that could have been saved!
Danuser was not really responsible for the general story direction taken in BFA. BFA was Afrasiabi’s baby.
And many did. Recall that within the Horde, there was a sharp divide between the Sylvanas loyalists and those who followed Saurfang and Bloodhoof.
Yeah the writing here is questionable. Thrall went on his “messianic” journey and left Garrosh in charge, which IMO was not just stupid but also selfish.
BfA formed Sylvanas to be a proper villain. Then came Danuser and not only made her a victim, but also gave her the last word when whatever was left of Arthas dissolved into air. Unforgivable.
Even if this was Afrasiabi’s last ‘work’, it could easily have been rewritten in order to save the story of Shadowlands. But it did not happen.
Expansion stories are decided often multiple years in advance. They have to be because the art team needs time to make the assets, the cinematic direction team to build cinematics, the quest designer team needs time to make quests around the concepts, and the writing team needs time to flesh out the narratives.
Patch 9.2 was likely Danuser’s work, but anything prior smells like a different writing team.
They did not. You saw what happened when they tried to pivot away from the faction narrative halfway into BFA. We eneded up with an Old God story that didn’t make sense, and many unused assets and unfinished threads. The development process of an RPG of any kind does not lend itself well to sudden story changes halfway into development.
In the end they learned that lesson and decided to stick to the plan with Shadowlands, as flawed as it was.
The old god story was clearly intended from the start off. Hence the title Battle for Azeroth. With us saving a bleeding vulnerable Azeroth from N’zoth.
Like all the horde zones and one alliance zones had ties to the old god stuff.
I hope so. She should return and fight Tyrande. I’m getting sick of this extreme alliance bias in the story. I want factions to be hostile. I was annoyed that Blizzard is making us work together with the alliance constantly, and then only use alliance characters with unfitting horde side fillers for the main story. Just let it be some gameplay thing only for raids/guilds with no further implications…
Also… Why is that entire Life/Nature story line only centered around night elves? What about Tauren, Zandalari Trolls, etc.? It feels like blizzard is overvalueing the night elf druidism over the other. At some point it just becomes weird. When you look at warrior class fantasy it’s also about odyn, and titanic beings. All other races like Trolls, Orcs, etc. are now excluded from the warrior class fantasy, or just more loosely connected. Gameplay wise blizzard doubles down on this with abilities like Avatar, odyn’s fury, etc. There are many more examples and it’s just annoying.
I mean sylvanas should return and then clearly tyrande will wanna fight her, so they both fight and start some faction conflict again, so there is some tension at least
alliance clearly has the superior high ground over the forsaken right now (likely calia as secret governor for stormwind) while i go bit off the rails but its about time alliance turning wrestling heel.
i like sylv to return too even i realise i am not alone.
