So on the PTR the Darkshore Zone flipped, and now we can see the Horde version of the area, I spent two hours taking notes.
When a side wins Darkshore it seems a lot more lopsided then Arathi Highlands. The main force of each army is completely driven off land into the sea and their base sacked, Auberdine is torched in this case and the Night Elves are pushed onto the boats, the Horde base is actually built around the Dark Moonwell. Buildings are going to have unique models, as such they aren’t in yet. There’s Forsaken and Goblins ALL OVER the place, like hundreds, and the only pockets of resistance are Worgen in the mines and on a nearby island. There’s also some Night Elves who have secured a shrine far south and are trying to regrow the forest.
The local wildlife is going crazy, Thistlebears are freaking out and just running around in circles. The moon appears to also be driving the local murlocs insane, at least a few of them have become mooncrazed.
-There is a small force of Blackwood Furblogs trying to push the orcs out of their home, the Shatterspear completely dominate the north side of the shore. The goblins also have a aircraft carrier loaded with Hellions on the southern side of the island that’s battling with the remaining Gilnean saboteurs.
The Forsaken are at this point not just harvesting the lumber, we were joking about the Blight being napalm on the discord but right now you could actually play Fortunate Son over what is happening. They HATE the forest and are actively going out of their way to kill it, apothecaries are dumpling blight on the trees through hoses and lobbing canisters. Not even at enemy targets, the woods itself, our World Boss is of course Ivus the Forest Lord. The goblins have actually gone crazy with power, unloading explosives everywhere and drenching everything in flames as if to add insult to injury. Shredders are being equipped with flamethrowers just to torch the woods while they hack it apart, gas balloons filled with bombs are dumping explosives randomly into the earth, sappers are strapping bombs to their backs and blowing everything up, goblins are sucking fuel out of the blazing strand to power their weapons and turrets with mini-flamethrowers are being planted in the ground.
In conclusion: DEATH TO THE SCOURGE, AND DEATH TO THE TREES.
TL;DR: Horde’re burning and blighting the environment because reasons. Y’know, in case we didn’t feel evil enough.
There is no pragmatism in this. We’re not even using the wood. Y’know, the wood we’ve fought wars over the last few years with the Night Elves.
I think you haven’t played warcraft 3 enough. The Scourge has to blight the area, to be able to summon their buildings there, duh! Of course it is pragmatic!
To be fair this fits both the Forsaken and the goblin mindset.
That said, it seems rather off-putting how random and senseless these actions are.
Because obviously these collectives are more than capable of doing so, but having them do so without some actual reason is…disappointing.
I do wonder about this part:
Like, maybe they are having the Forsaken actually be ‘terraforming’ the place to fit with Tirisfal? Blizzard could really aim here at having them move into the place and push their Kalimdor/Horde and EK/Alliance parity.
Nothing like that when Alliance wins. Blizzard spend so much effort to show Horde victory. Why?
Because now it’s clear for me that the Horde will win this battle in Lore. Just to continue the idea of Fursakens + Goblins being evil for Nature.
Just to make sure Saurfangs fans know that they are right…
To bad that again Blizzard use Night Elves as punching bags, and Night Elves will lose EVERYTHING for the second time in one addon.
Well, is this not against why the Horde fought against the kaldorei in the first place?
Atleast the Orc’s fought for their survival and their need for lumber. This is just desecrating for the fun of it and it makes the Horde seem more morally-grey then ever before.
Bahbah. Also why is the Horde base surrounding the most important Moonwell in the history of the Kaldorei, like wtf if anything that should’ve been Kaldorei held-area…
Other then that its obvious why the Horde is there in such big numbers since most of their races are now kn Kalimdor, so ofcourse they’ll have overwhelming odds against the Kaldorei Sentinel Army.
I think Blizzard needs to give us more reasons about why these two Horde factions are doing it.
Its not as if they wouldn’t just do so out of spite, but i kind of hope they give us more reasons to it.
Maybe they have suffered so much under night elf ambushes in the forests, that now they’ve reached the conclusion that they need to burn a good portion of it to flush them out.
I think the Orcs and Trolls suffered more to the Kaldorei after they invaded their lands. Especially since Orc’s and Troll’s made up the main bulk of the Army that invaded and is holding the ground in Darkshore and Ashenvale…
This is just spite out of spite’s reason. Its not like Nature ever did anything against the Horde.
I would indeed love to see a deeper reasoning behind this, but I doubt we will ever get it and this just shows that most, if not all, of the Forsaken are just pitiful and evil for the sake of it.
As i’ve repeatedly said, i think it would’ve made much more sense for Forsaken to be engaged in the Arathi warfront while orcs took a bigger role in Darkshore, but alas, thats not the case.
Its a shame, because i think that way things would’ve made much more sense for both Horde factions.
And its kind of a weird move, because it shows that there are certain things these factions are capable of doing even without Sylvanas influencing them. It gets harder to keep on forwarding the motto about “Sylvanas is turning this war dirty”.
Well, these actions can’t certainly be laid at her feet.
Well this does sounds like the end of Night Elves race. I know that the company that loves Horde more, will end the game like that. But I was hoping that this will happen much much later.
And yes I agree with Zarao. Why do Horde need to fight for Darshores if the only thing they are planing to do with it - fully destroy it to the ground?
So nobody will live there in the end. . .
They are busy taking the green parts near Undercity apparently.
Also:
Its not hard to be a troll druid. Its not as if any of this whole elf slaughter would bother me one bit after what their previous ruler did to trollkind.
