It may just be me, but Horde feels really out of place in this Expansion. It’s all Dwarves, Elves and Humans. And they somehow just accept the fact that they now have Trolls and Undeads running around. For the Dwarves it makes sense, as they’re Earthen and apart from their Edicts, they wouldn’t really care.
But going to Hallowfall, just felt wrong. This region is all about the Power of the Light, and not a single person raises an eyebrow when an Undead or a Troll just comes waltzing in. For Undead I’d imagine at least a comment about it, for Trolls I’d have expected their Guards to straight up charge at them.
These Arathi’s last experience with Trolls was basically a massive war against them, but obviously these stories haven’t been passed along and all the Original High Elves are dead, I suppose?
As a Horde Character, I feel more like a hired Mercenary working for the Alliance, than a warrior representing the Horde. Especially because we’re not officially at Peace with the Alliance, we have an Armistic, but we can’t talk together, can’t group together, because we’re not allied with each other, yet we run around side by side like we’re besties.
literally when has horde not felt out of place? that’s literally the whole reason the horde even exists it started with alien Orcs who never belonged to Azeroth and had an entire planet of their own
you’re playing the faction that embodies being “out of place” you can deal with a few npcs not caring that you’re a troll or whatever
I have to disagree. We’re the faction of Outcasts, but that doesn’t mean have to feel out of place. And it has never felt like that before, probably because we actually interacted with out own faction.
Like you said, Orcs aren’t even from this planet. They came long after these Arathi left and came to Hallowfall. So these people have literally never seen Orcs before, yet doesn’t even raise an Eyebrow, when one walks into their city, clad in armor.
Edit: And then a Troll shows up, and their only knowledge about trolls is that Trolls once tried to exterminate their race. Yet, they freely accept their help without question?
because can you imagine they live in a place where there’s walking talking spiders and void horrors beyond your imagination and all of a sudden some green guy shows up and says HEY GUYS I AM HERE TO HELP so why the hell would they care?
Good point. The Arathi have been out of the loop, when it comes to the politics of the other side of the globe for a very long time.
If they’re battling against nerubians and suddenly their old enemy and their allies were to show up, they would assume there was some kind of connectiion between the two and be extremely deffensive if not aggressive
There is no more faction war. Is like Post ww2 europe. Germany is no more the enemy. The big evil is.
(but i hope in midnight will be more “horde oriented” content).
Even towards some Alliance Races. Like the High Elves of that time, would only know the Night Elves as the people who basically exiled them for wanting to study Arcane Magic. Not knowing about the events of the First, Second, Third and Fourth War.
This! The Horde is scum, learn to live with it and accept it!
On a more serious note I think the Horde will get much more focus in the next expansion. It is supposed to be heavily Blood Elf focused with Silvermoon the main focus. I think it will be destroyed like Dalaran was and Blizz will use that as a reason to rebuild it in the main world with flying etc…
I can see this happening, we already had a hint of the void corrupting the sunwell when Alleria came to visit it, and if Sylvanas returns, then it should really focus more heavily on Horde characters.
Blizzard doesn’t care for the Horde as if it wasn’t obvious before. Argus, last Dragonflight patch and the Legion intro was all the same. The moment the faction war stops the Horde disappears.
I agree - as Horde it doesn’t really make sense or help immersion. You would assume that Faerin would draw her sword and charge a troll or orc or forsaken on sight screaming about the Light.
Then again as a velf shadow priest I don’t really get why she is all “hello champion” rather than “begone dark one”.
