Horrific Visions and Solo content

Okay so I was jumping into a horrific vision solo for the first time, My cloak is level 5 and I have a good amount of stuff specced on the talent tree. I went in there and I knew with my item level and my cloak I should theoretically be fine with going in and killing up to two bosses max (Excluding thrall) So I killed the first one going up to ‘The Drag’ and literally the first pack of mobs I meet I get stun locked for 5 whole seconds and killed in the time of the CC lasting. How am i even supposed to counteract that? I felt so crappy about losing an entire cloak upgrade because I wanted to kill an extra boss. Is this even balanced for solo content or am I supposed to just plan 50 moves ahead?

All CC in visions (at least from the mobs) is avoidable

You most likely got stun by a caster (he channels a stun after a short cast) or the fear roar from one of the guards in front of Thrall’s room.

Either interrupt, cc or go out of LoS (Line of sight) the mob casting the CC and you’re good to go.

I suppose so, But to be fair I never had those issues running as a duo and I am not sure if people are supposed to die to find out that certain things hurt alot.
Edit: And especially, Nothing really hurt before that point, the boss was easy to solo and everything else wasn’t a problem, just a pack of three mobs.

Was your friend doing the mechanics? I do know that grouping up to do visions makes everything a billion times easier.

We both tried to split things up, but there are some I didn’t really know about beforehand. One cast got through and it was all my bad, but I got punished for it.

Those mobs appear in multiple locations throughout the instance, they have a cast you have to kick / stun / fear etc, it stuns you for 5 seconds with a channel (Someone else in your group could also stop the channel)

kick the cast.

Is kicking casts not something you do naturally? Even if you don’t know what hurts and what doesn’t, why willfully take hits from stuff you can avoid?

Also quick note, at rank 5 cloak you need to start doing medium areas to upgrade your cloak. I did 3 areas and thrall on my level 5 run solo as a shadow priest, and there is a rogue who was cleared the entire thing on his own in the first week, so it’s definitely meant to be soloable.

Just a tip if you want to solo visions :

Aggro a pack of mobs you’re strong enough to kill and hide in a house. They’ll follow you inside and you won’t end up in a situation where you focus on the melee mobs and let a caster stun you 30m away from you.

Oh yeah and if you find a mail box (there’s one in front of the ah) open it, it’ll spawn a random mob and one of them drops a mount

Woah, alright thank you for the tips I guess I learned my lesson.

General rule of thumb for content that is meant to be challenging, be on damage control from the start. Dodge purple, pre cloak / cc any casts you see, and don’t pull aggressively if you dont know what the things in the packs do.

There’s a Madness effect in the Drag that can stun you for 4s if you don’t pay attention. Could have been that?

There is that, but it’s definitely the channeled cast from the adds. There’s 1 in each pack in the drag, and 2 pulls that have 2 each in valley of wisdom.
