Some people say its easier to solo then in group(which is more fun and should be easier)…What are your experiences? Also, can i play every day or is it weekly stuff? Just to be sure…
I’ve done a bunch in a group of 2 (2 DPS, both 670+), and it was quite easy. 2 masks without sweating, pulling entire zones at once, pretty fun actually.
I did hear that solo + follower is quite hard, though. Haven’t tried that.
That’s true:
I did 2 player and it was ultra easy.
One of the things I enjoyed most about Horrific Visions last time was that it wasn’t possible to explore the entire map for several weeks. While I recognise that those several weeks will now be hours because it’s farmable, I do think more emphasis should have been put on that aspect.
Instead we’re already heading into masks. I think we’ll be able to do 5 masks next week or so, and the only reason we can’t do it now is because we run out of sanity.
Now, that last part is fine, I just think only two weeks of progression… maybe 3? It’s not a lot.
But the good news is I don’t think we need to farm it. It’s just there, as an option, for fun. Which is perfect.
So far they feel easier than they did in BfA. I’m gradually progressing the masks on the same toon I used back then, who has around 660 ilvl. My main problems have come from me screwing up the route in the mage quarter, and forgetting that I don’t have the train toy on a toolbar anymore in the canals….
With a bit more time I should be able to at least 2 mask it solo this week.
Worth noting as well the talents are incredibly misleading as to their potency. The drain reduction does not start at 0, it starts at 50 (you get 10 for free per zone you clear for the first time. That means the first 10 takes you from 50% to 40%, which is a 20% reduction.
Next week it will be 40% to 30%, then 20, then finally 10.
Your sanity will be draining FIVE TIMES SLOWER than it was in week 1. And TEN TIMES SLOWER than it did the first time you went in.
Not to mention unlocking elite executioner is an extra 500 free sanity across a run, and that also upgrades with more runs to 1000 and finally 2000 extra sanity.
Getting 1-2 masks done was pretty chill on alts 640-645, 3 was chill on main. With maxed out EE I should be able to do 5.
Play a tank and press W.
The consensus in my experience with anything that isn’t high M+ or high end raiding is tanks fart through the content. Guardian druid, prot warrior and brewmaster monks being the most braindead.
If it took you guys weeks just to simply full clear how long would that take for me a measly ilvl 630?
I was planning to do them, but I’m not sure which class to use. I would like to try on my rogue but I get that tanks have it easier. How much difficult is it now for a dps?
Best experience ever as approx 680 Blood DK, I got full upgrades and two masks in 35 minutes of playing the visions from zero to where I am now.
Definitely recommend tank specs going in.
630 ilvl would be uncomfortable but full clear without masks doable this week. You should probably be doing things like the hallowfall event though to get more ilvl, and low end delves.
I don’t want/need more gear, nor am I saying it’s hard right now. I just said what it would be like if they tuned it to be hard for people with 670+.
The visions were pretty chill with 646 ilvl, but only did about 3 runs
With masks that’s what it is tuned for, but then next week with more sanity reduction it’ll be much easier, then easier still the week after.
Blizzard really really needs to write this on a tooltip
I did these solo.
Was kinda hard at the start 'cause elites didnt give sanity upon death & i had completely forgotten each of the bosses sanity attacks.
I only did 2 runs yesterday to get the initial quest done. But judging from the hourglass tree near Augermu (if I spelled it correctly), there is a line that literally reduces your performance if you are near others. They have effectively made it so that the “ideal” scenario is one where you do enter with 5 other players, but every player should split to maximize performance instead of moving as a group. But this has the con that you can’t use that sanity-restoring ability to restore everyone’s sanity at once…
At first glance it seems to be favouring groups, but maybe it will favour soloing as we progress.
No idea.
But I think you may be hitting the nail on the head here, because back then horrific visions came with season start, and this time it came with season middle. So we already outgear it, and we’re probably not going to outgear it much further, so it’s all going to come down to that upgrade hourglass thing.
But from my subjective experience here, it just isn’t that interesting. It’s too easy.
I think many of us outgear it at base, and having to do the easy runs to get to the harder stuff after is off putting. The new masks make a real difference.
Yeah, but I think the masks are the worst form of difficulty in this thing.
It’s better than nothing, sure, but it’s nowhere near as fun as progressively exploring more and more as your stats grow. That’s the core of games like WoW - combat gives rewards gives exploration.
