Hot Take: RWF should take way longer

IDK why Blizzard is obsessed with tuning the raid in such a way that top guilds can clear mythic in 2 weeks or so.
In my opinion the later bosses should require some more gearing etc - this should be a marathon, not a sprint.
Sure, you might say I’m stupid cuz I don’t take part in it but from an observer’s perspective, this is silly to watch. They no life for 2 weeks wiping 16h a day, brute forcing kills. I think it shouldn’t be mathematically possible to complete mythic in 2 weeks. It kinda takes “mythic” out of it. What kind of grand adventure is that? Just my opinion as someone peeking at RWF results.

If they need bis gear to beat the raid the other 99.9% won’t get past the 4th boss at all.

You have to remember that the people in the RWF are abnormal compared to everyone else. Theres a reason why after the race a lot of the raid gets nerfed a bit so the normal people even stand a chance.

They do, but RWF guilds through the sheer amount of resources and time they have available can condense a gearing process that takes regular guilds months into 1-2 weeks.

A member of Echo made and geared a second rogue to 479 ilvl in the span of 2 days, many members of their raid team are already 480+

They seem pretty damn geared to me

However that’s not playing down their insane high skill level.

It’s worth pointing out though that, at this point in time, by doing nothing but mythic+ and a normal raid clear, you can have 4 set and be 477 ilvl.

I haven’t inspected the individuals but I’d say it’s more than just normal raid gear.

It’s specific trinkets / weapons from heroic raid / normal raid, two 476 crafts with the free heroic enchanted crests from 20 renown and fyrakk kill, 4 set from Season, Catalyst, and 2 pieces from raid, and the rest is mythic+ then spend all 180 of your drake and wyrm crests on upgrading things from 470 to 483.

If you have acceptable trinket / weapon options from dungeons (Like all casters do) then 477 is pretty comfortably doable right now without any special trickery. Just requires you to earn and use your resources efficiently.

Just looking at a few of them it’s heroic raid gear and m plus and crafted.

Yes but because crests are still capped right now it doesn’t have to be heroic. Normal items still go to 476 and between gem and catalyst you’re guaranteed 2 heroic ilvl tier pieces regardless, m+ stuff goes to 483 instead of heroic raid stuff and you still end up in the same spot. Obviously split raiding heroic has gained them 2-3 more ilvl but the point is even without the resources / investment available to RWF guilds a player can really be not that far behind at all.

if it takes longer it’ll mean balancing etc. will be delayed as well. they don’t nerf / buff classes until its over (unless there’s something extreme going on) because precious rwf guilds would be sad and mad . allowing big guilds spending hundreds of millions of gold on gearing and then nerfing the bosses when they can’t kill xd calling the whole thing a race  it’s just a big waste of time for everyone . let them do the race on ptr with full gears etc. they buy them anyway

No, it’s HEROIC loot

Yes, I know. But at this point in time with this many crests it wouldn’t have to be.

No the gear is labelled where it is from. So it’s not normal upgraded gear.

Too short is buzz kill and too long is just… rude from a design perspective. Especially when loot is rng.

I think we’re just talking past eachother at this point, which I will take partial responsibility for. Apologies for the confusion.

Honestly I don’t think this is the reason. RWF guilds have shown they have the time and willingness to adapt as new fights present challenges that they hadn’t forseen. To me it seems more likely that the lack of heavy handed tuning during the RWF is to reduce the number of variable developers have to work with when tuning fights / parts of fights the guilds have not yet progressed to.

Blizzard know, with near complete certainty at this point, exactly what Echo and Limit’s raid comp will be when they kill Fyrakk down to the items on the characters. I don’t think they want to willingly give that up and have to deal with trying to predict what the ramifications of changes would be.

I presume they did heroic splits too.

Sorry if we’re having two different convos xD

Rwf should take 1-2 days. Anything longer means that the game is too hard, because these are the best players in wow, and they play professionally with sponsors and have people hired etc. If it takes more than 2 days, the game is not created for players.
