Hotfix for Dungeon XP

So this breaks the Freehold boosts?

Please let it be so xD I mean they’ve adjusted the lvling speed already, if u need more you might just wanna buy a lvl up boost

Someone above said that the level boost spam quickly disappeared, so… it did have the intended effect.

Maybe you should consider, it’s pretty good gold.

With the current rep buff? Heck no. I do the daily emissary on 2-3 chars, mission tables, and run Mechagon on one char. The whole deal takes about 30 minutes, and I get a paragon chest every other day on average. I think I average around 10-12k gold / week this way. Not terribly much, but it’s incredibly easy to do, and doesn’t take much time at all. Certainly beats running old raids, which take more time, and net less gold now.

Thing is, this was likely a very easy fix, while the more significant problems require more elaborate fixes. Should they hold off fixing the small stuff, when it’s quite possibly changing 2-3 lines of code? I don’t think they should.

Except this did cause harm: people of 4 queuing for dungeons, kicking the 5th (and having them suffer a deserter penalty) just because they want more XP. The bug also resulted in increased boost spam including in Exile’s Reach mentor channels.

Removing it doesn’t affect 99% of the players who just ran random dungeons. It affects those who power-leveled through them with the help of a max-level char. And it only affects those that did so in pre-patch, because the scaling made this a viable strategy. If you leveled 2-man in a dungeon prior to pre-patch, you can didn’t really get more xp/hour than doing it with 5, because clearing the dungeon took longer. With pre-patch, that’s no longer the case due to the scaling, so they fixed that.

Quite likely this is something none of you in this thread would’ve noticed if they didn’t announce it. :stuck_out_tongue:

But it is. When spamming dungeons with 2 people lets you level in 5-6 hours instead of 10-12, that’s not intended, therefore, a bug. It’s ok if you can level in dungeons, at roughly the same rate as with questing. If it’s twice as fast, that’s not healthy for the game.

Nope. Scaling & split XP is. If we have scaling and no split XP, it’s all good. If we have split xp and no scaling, it’s still good. Combine the two, and we have a problem.

Scaling & no split xp = dungeon leveling is no longer twice as fast as questing.
No scaling & split xp = dungeon leveling is not twice as fast as questing.

There’s not much difference between the two.

How is a mechanistic, spreadsheet driven approach to levelling classified as fun?

This problem was encouraging people to votekick others at the last boss to steal their xp.

The ‘fun detected…’ thing is overused.

I am against any boosts, thats my point of view. I only wish more and more people will login actually to play this game, rather than use any suppose calling it “ingame service”, legal it or not, by gold or RMT. Game must be a game, thats why it fun, thats why it an MMORPG, its not a shop.

  1. By making trade and general chat nothing but boosting spam. It has made me leave all public channels on every character as soon as I login for the first time.
  2. By filling the group finding tool with boost selling adverts.
  3. Getting whispers from leveling boost sellers while leveling allied races both before and after pre-patch.
  4. Oh the joy of ending up in a booster group when using LFD and having everything obliterated before I can even see the mob packs. That completely ruins the dungeon for me, because I actually want to play the game and not just follow some guy while picking up loot. This is how most BfA dungeons were while leveling before pre-patch.
  5. Even leveling boosts have RMT going on.
