Housing nerfs already?

Well that’s more reassuring

Well I hate to say “told you so” but…

I did say at the start “I fully expect Garrison 2.0” and here we are at the start before the expansion even launches…

I was not aware that reddit would be among blizz trusted sources, it only says in the forum rules that linking to other forums is not allowed and in pinned forum guides they only mention blizzard sites, youtube, twitch as trusted sites and I know wowhead to be one aswell, good to know for future then if I dont need to avoid linking from reddit either.

Related that link and housing, I expect them to monetise housing somehow at some point. Dont know what that “budget cost” is and is it linked to these “Decor Points” which increase as you upgrade your house. Which we obtain from pretty much everything from playing the game.

I remember during WoD alpha a lot of Garrison features were removed due to rime and development constraints and we ended up with nothing but a glorified daily hub with some trade skill features.

I said as soon as housing was announced that I fully expected Blizzard to find a way to water it down when they realised that they had bitten off a lot more than they could chew.

Im sorry but dont expect all the stuff “removed for testing” to be put back in again.

And again, and this is not just aimed at Blizzard, but never EVER believe a game development team’s announcements until the game is actually released.

Because if you’ve played videogames as long as I have, developer fantastical promises has been a thing since the Atari 2600 and before.

I expect it to be like Jarista said.
It’s just implementing the limitations now that we start with, to test the progression soon.

Not actual reduction of everything across the board.
But, we’ll see.

I’d rather not leave that down to speculation either tbh. It’s best to just be vocal about it.

Sooooo many times in the past people have said “it’s just alpha”, “it’s just beta” ect, then the game launches like it, then we’re stuck with it for multiple patches until the devs decide to listen to players distain.

Here, sitting by my computer, still waiting those aerial dogfights and dance studios which were printed on the package I bough a long time ago, I just wonder what the actual, final cost of a house will be.

Currently in alpha it seems to be 1K gold but despite not being a worgen “I have a bad feeling”, and I’m afraid the price tag will be something totally different. They have said that price will not be an issue, but an issue to whom? We are currently in a (virtual) reality where people ask 300K for a chestpiece in AH, for those who play the money game even half a million is not an issue but for quite a many players even 50K is a hefty sum and makes the house unobtainable.

And of course I have absolutely no reason to believe that even if the starting price will indeed be 1K, the additional rooms will be very, very expensive. If you doubt it, take a look on warband bank tab prices.

I agree it varies greatly how big the cost of something is depending who you ask, I play PvP as my end game content and I’m barely able to make hardly any gold from it. I have 40k gold between 9 characters from which I play all of their specs and need craft gear for them and buy enchants etc, so even 5k gold would be a lot for me. Housing is heavily advertised as next expansions new thing and something that you would assume is aimed at everyone, if it has any gold cost for this housing in general it would mean I would likely have to look for token and it not being so high in my prios in first place as it does not benefit my end game content in PvP there is not much incentive to put gold on it. I for one will be annoyed if I see too much gold costs for the feature if theres not whole lot else I get from the expansion either.

Yeah, lets just keep our mouths shut and just let Blizzard do whatever they fancy without any kinda feedback. That tends to go really well. It’s a tale as old as time. I’ve been playing the game for 2 decades, and I know how that tale goes.

This has worked for them for many years, this is how Blizzard have been so successful in losing subs, and I think this is gonna work for them again.

Someone will have to dumb this down because I have no idea what any of that means.

Especially when you have people saying 20k and now it’s 24.

Like does it gold cost everytime you place an item? Is the cost to unlock different rooms? Is the 20k-24 the amount of items you can place?

Maybe they had to simplify housing to appeal to newer players.

Nobody knows for sure yet, but here’s my guess;

  • Placing items will not cost but the items will
  • Unlocking more rooms probably does cost, every room more than previous
  • The number of items will probably depend on which “level” your house is and that number can be anything from one to half a million, nobody knows yet.
