There is another F2p MMO that has similar features. Different sizes and prices. Naturally the really beautiful, larger and much more customizable one with the best locations and views/seaside even own an island etc require a housing deed to be purchased from the in game store. It would not surprise me if this becomes and option in WoW too.
I hope the same applies to this option but some players would like the option to own more than one for what reason I don’t know. I just hope you are able to sell and move to another location if you so choose too.
Yeah, I can kinda see this turn into a similar thing like the Garrison, with not much customizing as people think there’s gonna be. A couple presets to choose from, and maybe some new looks to things from some random activities or achievements. That’s very Blizz-like to do. They could do a lot with this, and they’ve got the tech for it now. Having a reason to visit other’s with something like a vote and reward system as mentioned above would be nice. Maybe rewards tied to the housing, but also have a blizz touch to it by adding other cosmetics as well, like transmog, pets and/or mounts. They could do a lot with this, but also not make the world emty at the same time, which garrisons did, which we all agree was a big reason that expansion was such a drag, nearly “killing the game”
I’m actively against this system being anything but cosmetic with no perks ingame, nothing, you got your house, there’s plenty of us over the years who have never wanted them now that they are here (Soon™) both sides need to be catered to. We were forced into garrisons, we are not going to be forced into housing.

Able to place our houses anywhere we choose. I’d like a small place just outside Darnassus please or the Grizzly Hills.
Wouldn’t like housing gated to what will be old content soon enough. I suppose we could have a house hearthstone like garrison but still…
Also would be good to have guild hall feature.
Finally bring class halls in to capital cities and resurrect them for mounts, training, class trainers. A short quest chain for each new spell learned to teach players new to the class about usage, effects, situations best used in etc.

Wow, sorry to have triggered that for you, I hope you can get over it.
I’m taking a stab in the dark here and assuming that Blizz have massively ramped up their art team in the last year or so (judging by the amount of mounts and cosmetics added). In doing so, I hope this means that there’ll be a wider variety of house themes (race/subculture etc) available.
Probably the best time for housing to be implemented IMO
I just find it fun, for the same reason I draw things, create 3D models, design stuff, build random things on sims yadda yadda. I don’t show them to anybody but myself and my partner, yet most of the time I just do it for the sake of doing it, this will be more of that BUT on my favourite videogame. I couldn’t ask for anything better. And I find these same reasons in most of my friends that still play wow!

I really like your idea of a personalized portrait/painting of your character, that could really make the character come to life.
My input for the devs would be, let players work for their dream home. Not just speak to an NPC and get a mansion. some kind of progression system that reflects the TIME you spent playing the game. as opposed to a paytoken cosmetic
