Housing wish

It dont have to be complicated.
Just copy paste from other games.
You put houses etheir insisde or outside of the city.
You have a bidwar on houses. The one that wins get the house.
Etheir you have montly fee or not (there is 2 mmos in my mind that have one or another).
Then you pick and choose who is getting invited to the house.
Another added option could be to be able to add skill trainers, bank/ah. But not really nessecary.

Fair enough, agree to disagree i guess :slightly_smiling_face:

Sure, but people canā€™t expect the same number of options as a housing system thatā€™s existed for many years already (I mean, they can, but it would be stupid to do so).

Thatā€™s like expecting a new MMORPG to launch with as many zones and as much content as WoW has right now, after 20 years.

It was just a joke.

I think most people would be satisfied with seeing that the potential of having the same number of options is there. We dont necessarily need them at launch, but being able to recognize it can become something with the same amount of options is important.

That flew over my head, im sorry

But people willā€¦ Like you know that they will. final fantasy 14 is where this whole idea in wow comes from. So if blizzard are really going to do this? It has to be really good.

I am worried that if its not? And people just loose interest in it. It will only be a one time expansion thing that wont be further developed on. And dropped.

Even if you tell people to keep expectation lowā€¦ the anticipation is still gonna be very high. And Blizzard has to nail this.

Absolutely no <.< hard nopeā€¦ That means only the ritch whales will be able to enjoy housing. No thanks.

I like how you managed to single out the one thing that is hated by almost anyone as a feature wowā€™s housing should have.

I hope they make the housing similar to what is in ESO. There are different size / price player houses in almost every zone and those are built to match the zoneā€™s atmosphere and environment. You can actually see those houses in the open world, but when you enter to one, itā€™s instanced.

Also houses are account bound, so when you buy a house with one character it is available to all characters

No need to apologize. If you didnā€™t get it, it probably wasnā€™t funny.
So you could say it was my bad.

Thatā€™s why Blizzard should clearly communicate what weā€™re getting (and how theyā€™ll expand it in the future).

I disagree. Thereā€™s games that do housing better or more interesting.

Thatā€™s the hope/dream of course, yes.
But as with all things WoW: People like different things. So someoneā€™s going to be disappointed no matter what they do.

I still think blizzard should aim high rather than low when it comes to thisā€¦ As high as time can buy. And as complete as possible. I hope its going to be everything players wished for.

I just donā€™t think thatā€™s realistic.
Iā€™d rather say: I hope itā€™s going to have the potential to be everything players wished for.

Thatā€™s what Iā€™m hoping for: A good, solid, fun basis for the system.

But again: Those wishes are going to be very different from person to person and some will directly counter each other. Thatā€™s the reality of it.

I agree that whilst I donā€™t want the lottery, huge pricing system they have over there, I can understand that there are other aspects people like. I also donā€™t like rent systems etc.

Personally Iā€™m looking forward to the wow twist on housing. I just hope itā€™s evergreen and available to all.

I hope that we can craft things, loot things, do old and new content to get patterns and items etc. Allow us to choose what kind of home we want and fully customise it.

Someone earlier said about using the system that Star Wars Galaxies had. Thereā€™s an element of sense in that, apart from a few points.

SWG had a lot of planets you could build on. You could even have cities, where multiple people places their houses in areas within a town hall boundaries. The bigger the city got, the wider the town hall ring went, so you could eventually have shuttle ports, cantinaā€™s and all sorts of other perks that the residents could use.

That kind of system - where a player can just dump their house down wherever they like - is never going to work in WoW, though. SWG had huge landscapes of mostly empty to fly across, but Blizz likes their game areas to look nice and populated.

Imagine loads of houses dumped down just outside oggy ruining the view?

Then you have issues with houses being placed that affect quest spawn mobs or have other incidental effects or exploits as a result. Sure, they could mark out a lot of areas where itā€™s not possible for players to drop houses, but that would probably end up being most of the map.

Youā€™d also have the problem of everyone wanting to drop a house on their own realm and phasing etc. Most servers are now shared between 3-4 different groups now as well. Itā€™d be the garrison disappearing bug all over again, if you were zoned out to another server to do something and your house went pop in front of you.

Blizzard will take the safest/easiest route here and just allocate one area - probably in one of the big cities - where you, as your factions hero/champion/whatever-thrall-and-greymane-call-us-now, where you have been gifted a house, due to all your years of service.

Every player will have that one same house and it will be instanced, so you can walk inside to get your own place, just like your Garrison.

They know some of us might not like that but thatā€™s where the Star Wars Galaxies ideas come into play. Theyā€™ll create a new profession called cabinet maker, or architect, and let the players run wild collecting designs for new stuff that can be made to fill out your own little space. And give you full control of how you place these things in your property, like SWG did with itā€™s rotation commands.

Add in the possibility to change colour schemes in each room, a cute little mailbox outside your front door, a couple of pictures on the wall where you can toggle which of your proudest achievements youā€™d like to display and probably all sorts of ideas nobody has imagined yet, and thatā€™ll make up for it.

Or they could just build a huge tower block which almost reaches the sky, with thousands of windows, and then just have you go in the entrance to visit your own flat in there. That way the lore people donā€™t have to imagine that they all share the same digs.

I really donā€™t want neighbourhoods, I donā€™t like that, I would far rather be out on my own somewhere in my own instance. But people are all different.

Aye, competing for space is horrible. An upkeep/rent is horrible.
Just buy the house and have it; done. Unlockable extra rooms/floors is fine though imo.

I completely agree.

Again, I agree 100%. I donā€™t want to see other peopleā€™s ugly stuff. I already have to see their ugly transmog and mounts, thatā€™s more than enough. :stuck_out_tongue:

I liked the way they did that in BDO when I dabbled a bit in it. Just already existing towns and places, where you could pick a house you liked with multiple instances of it. No clutter, lovely streets and neighbourhoods imho. Despite liking it I also discovered Iā€™m just not really into it haha, but I get the appeal.

They better give us pink unicorns, i need those for reasons.

No housing without outhouse

Letā€™s get a slum built up in the rough bit of Orgrimmar. A council tower block where everyone can interact and hang their washing over the balconies.

From an rp pov thatā€™d be awesome actually. Great idea!

Iā€™m all for it, but I probably wonā€™t be living there haha.
Iā€™ll be off in a fire/iron house somewhere near Ragnaros, hopefully!
