Hover Macro with Hand of the Protector does not work on party frames

Hello,
I’ve created a macro for casting hand of the protector on my hover target, then try cast on main target last try cast on me.

My issue is that this macro does not work on party/raid frames for hover, only works if I hover on the character model itself.

I have the same macros for Cleanse Toxins, BoP and LoH they work as they should with no issues.

Here are the macros

HotP:
#showtooltip Hand of the Protector
/use [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Hand of the Protector

Cleasnse Toxins:
#showtooltip Cleanse Toxins
/use [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Cleanse Toxins

The HotP macro looks fine, and it works for me on my prot pally.

I’d suggest trying it with your addons disabled, to see if its due to a unitframe addon conflict maybe, but you mention it working fine for the other spells which would make that unlikely to be the problem.

Perhaps you happened to try it during moments where someone happened to just die or get mindcontrolled ? (so the help or nodead conditions would not be met).

Can’t really think of many other reasons why it wouldn’t function.

These macros wont work if you’ve assigned them to a mouse button.

I’ve a similar problem as the op, my macro (flash of light, but rest of the macro the same as op) works for myself and if I hover over the character model, but doesn’t work when I mouseover a character portrait. It is indeed bound to a actionbar slot bound to a mousebutton (mousebutton 4 if it matters). Is there any reason/way to get this working with mousebuttons? or is the only solution to download some “healer, click on portrait” addon?

Hi,

as I understand it, frames in WoW have to be specifically “told” to handle mouse-button clicks. If whatever addon or Blizzard UI wasn’t programmed to handle those clicks, they won’t just do anything but dismiss them.

You press the button and the unit frame doesn’t know what to do with it. You’ll never get to the point, where the mouse-button actually triggers the action button or macro it was bound to.

You can bypass this issue if you have a mouse with software to rebind mouse-buttons to keyboard keys. Or get another addon.
