Bots also pay a sub. Why give out 1 sub for free when they can make 10.

They did exactly that on the Chinese realms. So why not?
“Ha ha ha”. Serious take on it though: Other games used to do similar stuff like ArcheAge who granted a tiny bit of “labour” the premium required to plant seeds, then to harvest plants for commodities if you managed to succesfully report bots.
It still didn’t stop them. I literally saw a slightly different named bot take its place lol.
… And they do, in the background. They even used to publish these numbers but still get shouted at that it was impossible to be this much. My actual estimate was that it’s the lower bottom of the curve lol xD

Because some players would intentionally create bots connecting to the game through VPN, hide them good enough in the world so that other players cannot find them, then report them with their main account and get 1 free month when Blizzard bans them. And then they’d repeat it.
It’s an exploitable loop.

It’d just cause people to report everyone for being a “bot”.
I miss the times before the broken automated report system when you could freely mess with the bots without risking a ban.
I didn’t need a free sub reward back then, the joy I got from doing shenanigans was reward enough.

im very experienced with that. 
for years and years and years my hobby was to go and find bots-multiboxing armies- rmt groups -exploiters and those kind of people and removing them with my team .
we did this for 5 or more years in row till 5-6 months ago that i got a false bann , i managed to come out of it but that was a big Alarm to be carefull babadonda GMs are not in the game anymore and those groups can abuse the broken report system and send you to shadowlands.
Even back then when i was talking about this or making topics about it there was a small group of those who were trying to drill the topic and mass reporting me here to stop me from creating topics and talking about how to deal with them and remove them from the game.
to this very moment they are still here and some of them are known about among the players here, anyways i dont say their name but my point is so many fun things we used to do are removed from the game . infact thats the very reason that people made the famous meme or # Fun detected 
That is also a big possibility .imagine someone reporting beerwolf and in description writing “ clearly a bot ,was drinking beer while rest of the group was getting owned by alliance in battleground” .
