How are Rogues doing?

from behind

My experience.
Sub has mega button bloat and is hard for a nob to play.
Outlaw feels good in general when you use blade flurry but outside of that it has a lack of impact imo.

Assa is super simple and envenom hits like an absolute freight train and it is easy to keep consistent dps with it.

This is all from a PvE perspective.

Assa rogue feels very simplistic, but quite powerful in some regards as a solo PvE/PvP player. Once you get good gear it feels like you just kill things really fast, but it’s annoying having to apply your bleeds because that’s where a lot of your damage is being pushed out through, then having to refresh them constantly, then envenom as a finisher which doesn’t feel like really amazing.

It’s like a very repetitive, simple game-play loop, where your damage through bleeds playstyle isn’t as good as a Feral druids, but you don’t get the stuns and utility like a Rogue. It’s also kind of annoying in Delves as you take a lot of the damage, or have to put a lot of effort in CCing enemies.

The spec feels better in PvP, where your damage seems a lot more potent and you can really annihilate one target. It can feel like you are cheating 1v1, which has always been the case, and I don’t really like that cheesiness of Rogue. You can get into the backline in battlegrounds, harass healers, smoke bomb and take them out. The issue, like many classes, is the damage you can take, so you have to really enjoy slippery gameplay.

Sub rogue is the most rogue feeling spec, but it’s just too much to think about and for me doesn’t flow well. I’ve never played a lot of Sub but it’s like you’ve got to mix in your vanish/stealth abilities only accessible through windows. Multiple finishers, but without anything super punchy, that I’ve noticed. Honestly, it doesn’t really tickle my fancy, so it’s not something that seemed super engaging when I’ve tried it.

Combat feels better, more RNG, but it has a simple playstyle to it with some standout abilities that make it fun to play, plus, you’re not forced into a dagger build. It’s a bit more brute force, like a Fury warrior, and it’s AOE is easy and the spec flows decently well.

I’ve never PvP’d with it, but I heard it’s a high skill ceiling to master/be viable competitively with, but I think if you’re just a casual it’s probably not that bad. A lot specs are more viable for the majority of the community, where meta specs often tend to be meta in certain scenarios/content.

I think there are lot of fun specs to play in TWW, and I honestly wouldn’t rate Rogue at the top right now. I play a lot of alts and I think there are other, easier classes to do content with that are more rewarding and fun, but if it’s something you want to play I think it’s a great time to play nearly any spec right now, especially with Delves and other solo content coming.
