Returning player, and I was thinking of playing Rogue for something different, possibly Outlaw. Mind you I havent really played Rogue since they got a huge re-work several expansions ago. I think last time was Cata or WoD.
Then i’m looking at the class population and Rogues are near the bottom, which is honestly shocking to me. They used to be one of the most played classes, borderline overpopulated. Did they become bad to play?
I don’t really care too much about performance at the present moment, thats up and down across all classes. I care about FUN.
I didn’t make this thread on the Rogue forums because they are mostly dead, and there seems to be mostly whining going on which im not looking for. I’m looking for unbiased opinions.
Yes I do realize “fun” is subjective, that was a bit of a weird question. I guess I could ask why you think Rogues have dropped from probably a top 5 spot to near the bottom?
All rogue specs are good in pvp, they are played less cause how strong fury, ww, retri, feral, dh are right now. Which are all easier and require less staring diminishing returns. If you like pre active type gameplay and being able to control then rog would be one option for that, be adviced they also get kited constantly. You will be main focus of everyones disarms and roots and cc in general so prepare spend a lot time in standing in root praying for dispels, but thats same for warrior as well. All melee gets knockbacked and rooted and kited a lot now.
If something needs addons to track things and having more awareness in general wouldnt that then make it require more thought as well than say fury, dh and retri that are somewhat less buttons and a lot passive effects. I dont really care much of blanket statements but seems bit contradicting to call their spec “brainless” on that context after said it needs this and that and that just to be able track a lot of things
Blanket silence from garrote is still op and that they can do it on multiple targets with just one press. They also do huge amount of dmg when ppl are stacking. They are squishy on other hand and having to use vanish for burst sometimes feels bad but could also be seen as high risk and high reward type of choise, the one thing that I hated most and what I see other rogues suffering from is how much they will spend time rooted and slowed in pretty much everywhere. They get kited really easily and depends on the players nerves how much that affects them, I get really tilted playing it. I cant stand the amount of roots and slows and passive slows and random aoe cc the game now has, it becomes really annoying quick
Rogues are still fine. But when we compare rogues to other melee classes, we don’t provide any raidwide or partywide buffs so it’s not good especially in PvE. They really needs to add a partywide buff to rogues. Other than that, rogues are still doing fine in PvP even with nerfs to stun/sap/blind durations. I like RBB and solo shuffle as a rogue. I play assassination mostly, subtlety and outlaw is requiring more cd tracking and outlaw got really annoying rotation. I mean even if you play perfect as outlaw rogue, there are other classes that can do same dmg without trying that hard. So yeah maybe it’s why rogue player numbers decreased that much.
Okay so after playing up to about level 73 now, im having fun with my Rogue but feels like you have to work a lot harder than other melee specs with weird rotations and burst windows etc. Its a lot more clunky than what i remember. At least with Sub and Outlaw. Asassination is pretty straight forward tho
