How are you actually meant to complete Majordomo?

Hey.

The current bait in/out feels very cheesy or ”Clever use of game mechanic” and not what the devs intended.

Is there an actual intended way to defeat?

My guild did what I believe to be the intended way the first weeks. You keep him in cat form for as long as you think you can handle, then you keep him in scorpion for as long as you think you can handle (for us this was like 7-8 stacks in cat form and 4-5 in scorpion).

But the cheese strat is obviously easier and goes faster so we switched to that after a couple of weeks, aswell.

That’s what i thought was the cheese.

Honestly i thought he was supposed to jump around more, besides the first few jumps

But maybe that was never intended and just there as a team wipe thing after getting so many stacks from the bait in/out

This youtube comment I found explains the cheese strat better than I could:

“The short of it is that we swap forms ~every 15 seconds (by moving 4 assigned players in or out of the group stack [we used classes that can either cast while moving or have a lot of instant-cast spells]) so that he doesn’t do his special ability at 100 energy (which takes about 18 seconds to accumulate). The upside of this is that we don’t have to deal with the Cat Form Leap, or the Scorpion Form Cleave, which would drop our Concentration stacks (which provide a 100% damage / healing increase at full stacks). The only trade-off is that we have to deal with Orbs / Seeds a bit more frequently, but we “cheese” the orbs by moving the boss and having the 1 tank soak both orbs for as long as he can (sustained by the Healers with the 100% healing increase due to the full Concentration buff), and swap with 1 DPS (in our case a Pally) to reset stacks occasionally. By following this method you only lose your Concentration stacks about once per minute when your Flame Seed detonates, leading to much higher overall DPS (and thus a shorter boss fight) as well as much stronger heals (so that you can cheese the 2 orbs onto one player for longer), while also avoiding having to do most of the other mechanics. I hope that that makes sense!”

Yeah, that’s the strat we’ve ised from day 1.

It’s one of the many badly designed boss fights in Firelands. Don’t dwell upon it much.
