I am using other(much more important) authenticators with my pre=paid phone number. Why isn’t it allowed and how can I convince Blizzard to let me use my 5 year old prepaid number with Authenticator.

I can definitely understand this is a frustrating situation and while some pre-paid numbers are supported certain combinations of plan types, providers or registered countries may not be.
The general answer as to why is that it’s unfortunately necessary to limit fraudulent and abusive activity.
Some restrictions may be temporary though, so if you don’t have the option of using another number, it may be worth checking back from time to time.

well, it was always like this since this ban has come I guess(from other posts) so I wouldn’t expect a change soon. Worst part is, I can’t use Dungeon Finder to full extent with this ban. Can you guys at least let us write some notes to Dungeon/Group Finder tool without authentication? How does Auth related to limit Dungeon/Group Finder?

The developers were asked by the players to attempt and restrict goldseller and other spam through custom listings and they have added the authenticator requirement as a result. If you have feedback by all means submit it at a non-support forum.
