I am a very casual player and I only have a high level character thanks to a character level boost. Ive never bothered about earning gold before but I’ve fallen in love with a mount, the Dune Scavenger Hyena mount but its too expensive for me as yet. Any advice on earning or making gold would be great x
You can cap 15,000 Honor and use it to buy Shields. Those cost only 450 Honor and sell for about 60 gold each.
Do world quests, they can easily net you several thousand gold per lockout period.
Loot everything, kill stuff while doing it and sell trash.
You can easily make 10k or more per week with this.
Like Keento said, do all the world quest that give gold. World bosses have gold reward sometimes too at almost 1k and then there’s Field of Ferocity which you first need to unlock for a WQ to pop up for it but once you finish it, it also has a gold reward as one of options at 1k. https://www.wowhead.com/quest=70444/the-fields-of-ferocity
At this point pretty much the best options as materials dont really sell for much so they’re not really worth farming.
Also running old raids and selling everything from them is still a viable option to make some quick gold.
Run mythic island expeditions with your max lvl toon and buy boxes from a vendor with dubloons. Multiple items from island expeditions sell for 50-250k and they have decent sell rates.

firekin shoulders sell super quick for example.

You can farm it yourself?
Or you can rep grind for this one:
Oh I didn’t know that! Like I said I’m a very casual player, I’ve had my account from 2011 I think and yet I have hardly scratched the surface x
It’s really low droprate though like 0.2%
Play the AH.
I mostly do things like LFD and LFRs.
Or I visit old lands, gather old materials and sell it on the Auction House, since there’s many who don’t want to travel to old areas to acquire old materials.
As a few have mentioned, the wqs net a fair bit of gold. I also get a decent amount mining in Zereth Mortis during my weekly collecting things run there.
Just doing the gold WQs in DF alone you can easily get 25-30k [with War Mode on for the extra gold], PER character per week.
It only takes half an hour quickly doing them.
2 characters = 50-60k/week
4 characters = 100-120k/week
The game literally throws gold at you…
Get the WQ Tracker addon, quickly select all gold and dragon racing WQs and just follow the markers leading to them. Some WQs don’t show a gold reward but yield a significant amount, namely the Arena ones in Oh’na Plains and Azure Span’s Cobalt Assembly [not the PvP Wild Arcane wq location, north from that) – both reward you 600g as its base amount.
Getting a Paragon cache [10k rep past 30 Renown] yields 3500g on top of that while passively getting rep doing them WQs.
SLs offers WQs that give 250+g as well
I found this the best option from either farming-professions-PLaying with AH
Another one was professions that despite the insane number of bots you can easily make some nice number of Gold .
4 Hour Farm is close to 150k -200k (But depends on the route-luck ) But right now at the end of season everything is quite low so Alt-quest is way better "_
Here’s my contrarian take. You likely earn more from your day job than farming gold in wow. Be productive at work and buy a few wow tokens per expansion. Unless you enjoy making gold in wow (which some do) use your game time to play the content you enjoy.
Make a char on Draenor horde leave the name of it here and i will gift you it.
Put on your work gloves and your best leather clothes and start lasering mobs. This may not be the most efficient way to accumulate gold, but if you stick with it, you will eventually become rich.
UPDATE: New #1 - that is VERY generous, Alaríc!
My #1 suggestion from the thread this far:
And my #2
Though I don’t see it often hitting 30K/week:
but you will probably top 20K/week (Plus 10% if you do it in War Mode). As I look at it now, I see 7.1K in quests plus 9 Dragonriding purses, for a total of 11.6K. Same again on Saturday.
So 3 full weeks of WQ, plus maybe a few old raids, would get you the 60K you need to buy it on the cheapest realms.
A further tip:
If you find a friend to help, you can buy what you need on a realm cheaper than yours.
Right now, Kazzak has the cheapest AH price, at 60K
https://undermine.exchange/#eu-kazzak/163576
If you look to the bottom of the page, you will see all the realms’ prices.
You can trade cross-realm now.
Your friend makes a character on Kazzak (or whatever the cheaperst realm is when you are ready.)
Meet your friend;s character and trade the gold to them.
They buy the item and trade it back to you,
yay I was a good example
Isn’t the ah region wide now or is it only for certain things?
The AH is region-wide for stackable items only, like materials and consumables.
Each realm still has separate prices for single items like armour and mounts.
