How can I fake cast better

How can I fake cast better? I feel like vs rogues in particular I waste way too much time trying to fake cast his kick and it ends up with me getting kicked after 3-4 fakecasts anyways… and that is a lot of wasted time as you know so I can’t keep doing it the way i’m doing it right now. Any advice?

To fake cast well, there is no “always do this and it’ll work out well”-technique, because in its very essence it’s basically a mind game.

It’s true that you punish yourself if you waste a lot of time fake casting, and then it basically becomes better if you had just eaten the kick instead of wasting time faking. But if you want to learn how to do it better, then you need to get inside the minds of the dpsers. When they want to kick you, how you can bait them into wanting to kick you, and then learning the individual differences between different players and classes.

Basically, you just need to at the very least watch every spec on twitch and see when they tend to kick, what the circumstances and positions are, and so on and so forth.

This is something the better players have spent literally thousands of matches to improve, so don’t expect it to go fast.

But all in all, if you find yourself wasting too much time faking, then stop faking and then adjust the times you try to fake (if you choose to start attempting fake casts again) to when you notice they tend to interrupt you regularly at.

Oh right, and using a /stopcasting macro to fake instead of moving your character can make it harder for some people to anticipate when you choose to fake.

As a Holy Paladin I’ve had to learn this fast. Although it’s true what the above have said, I’ve found that if your partner is low and the enemy team are close to a kill they will often kick faster due to their adrenaline. If you’re both at high health people tend to be calm and wait longer.

I tend to cast to 50% and fake it. Anything less is obvious. However I will always try and eat the kick if we are both high health as why not. 15 secs of free casting is lovely after that.

Also something I’ve noticed is that if you are duking a ranged kick like a wind shear, they tend to do it on reaction to seeing the cast bar so I tend to quickly fake cast it. Someone coming around a corner to interrupt you will tend to do it very quickly too.

Hope this helped. There’s no exact science and the longer a game lasts the enemy will adapt to your methods so switch it up.
