How can I test characters classes?

Hi, I would like to try each character classes so I can discover the ones I prefer. Can you please tell me where or how I can test classes? Thanks.

If you have BfA you can just make level 110 class trial characters. It allows you to create level 110 character and test it out for up to 8 hours. You can create 4 class trials per hour and 8 per week. So you can’t test every class right away.

If you don’t have BfA there’s no good way to do that. All you can do is to level different classes and get the feel but it can take some time untill you get full toolset.

You could also try to use class trials on PTR. There you should have BfA account and access to class trials. It’s not always up and will give you feel how the class plays in the future rather than now. To get PTR go here: https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/32229. Create PTR account then you will be able to download it via Blizzard Launcher. Speed up the download you start and let it run for few minutes. Then pause it, copy data folder from normal wow into PTR wow foldder and resume downlaod. That way you will only need to download the new patch.

I have purchased BfA 10 days ago, at the same time that the base game. I watched Youtube videos and on people screens there’s a button in the character creation menu to test their characters but I don’t see any buttons or options on my screen to test the characters… So is there a problem with my purchase? Because when I launch the game there’s a button that say UPGRADE with a BfA picture… but as I said I already have purchased BfA…

This does not compute. Something is amiss.

When you purchase BfA, you get a new button “110 Trial Character” in the top-centre of your character selection screen. With that button, you can make an instant 110, and play it for up to 8 hours. Since you want to check out various classes, you would then delete the 110, and make another of the same class, until you come to a decision about the class, race, gender, appearance you want.

At the very top right of this page, you will see your BattleTag with a drop-down. Click on that and go into Account Settings. You should see one account “World of Warcraft® : Battle for Azeroth®”.

It is possible that you have accidentally made two WoW accounts; you’re playing on one but have used the BfA on another. (But I think that would mean that you had to have added game time to both at some stage, so that sounds wrong too.)

Anyway, check your official Account Status first, just to be sure.

I might have made a mistake while purchasing BfA…

I first used the Discover Edition then I purchased BfA, but I purchased BfA for the Discover Edition so there’s the button to test classes that appears but there’s also a message that say that I cannot try characters because it is the Discover Edition…

So I suppose I have to purchase a second time BfA but for the regular version this time…

I don’t understand. There is no “Discover Edition”. But I don’t think you will have to buy BfA again. I think Blizzard billing can move your BfA to the account you are using, and delete the other one - if that’s what the problem is.

When you look at your Blizzard Account page, what do you see? Do you see a WoW1 and a WoW2 account? and what exactly are the description(s)?

WoW1 is the regular version that I get after subscribing one month. I have my night elf character on it and there’s no button to test characters classes.

WoW2 is the Discover Edition I used at the begining, free to play until level 20. There’s the button to test characters classes that appears on the screen, but I can’t use it because “it’s the free/discover edition”.

I remember I selected WoW2 when I purchased BfA. That was a mistake… I will contact Blizzard to move my BfA from WoW2 to WoW1.

Thanks for your help

OK. Good luck with it. Blizzard support are quite good about this kind of thing.

In English version it’s called Starter Edition, not Discover Edition. You probably use other language version and there’s a tranlation issue.

Also hope you can get your situation sorted with Customer Support.

Indeed, I originally speak french so things are different on screen.

Hey Limendil!

It looks like you may have had a payment issue and\or accidentally upgraded the wrong World of Warcraft license!

Would you mind getting in touch with our Customer Support? They should be able to clarify the situation and provide you with further assistance

Thanks, I will contact the support now.

EDIT: There’s a game master that helped me well. He said he can’t transfer BfA from WoW2 to WoW1 so he refunded me. Then I purchased BfA for WoW1 this time, and I can now test classes

Thanks to everyone for the help.
