I know a lot of people who always play the same char over and over
Me personally I’m not able to, I always have to change else I get bored too quickly doing the same skit over and over for literally years.
I usually change class/spec every season or sometimes not even (I started season 3 with hunter but changed to Aug recently).
Do you always play the same char? Don’t you get bored of it?

I rotate around the same 5 characters. Warrior, paladin, death knight, hunter, rogue. I usually swap every season or so just to keep things “fresh”

Ráevelyn (Originally Amberose) was my first character ever created back in Vanilla and i’ve never changed from her being my main.
I don’t get bored of playing the same one all the time, i acutally feel much more connected. I’ve tried other classes but i just can’t connect in the same way (and i can’t play malee classes for the life in me).

I don’t main change because I’m on one big long adventure. I enjoy her and if I dont, then I take a break.
Each to their own.

yes i would, but blizz is forcing with this low ceiling of power progression in each season, that you must play more chars, if you wanna do smth after the 3-4 weeks, because +20 for max gear was again easy possible in the first week, sadly there is no other power grind other than m plus (raid is no grind, because of id lockout). The ap grind was at least something in legion and bfa.

Start: Shaman
TBC-WOTLK: WL
WOTLK-MOP: Warrior
MOP- Legion: Moonkin
Legion-Now: Shaman
Not counting alts…
Basically I switch multiple times, but it usually only happened because I disliked the changes they made to the class I mained.
I am not getting bored with my main-class. I play the classes because in my eyes they have the best design.
If I want a lil mix up I just play 1-2 dungeons with an alt.
Nowadays I play multiple games and only do a certain amount of dungeons so the main is allways fun.
You explained it much better than i did but yeah that’s exactly how it is for me too and what i meant by that i can’t connect with other chars.

I think we are very much on the same page.

Not always, I have a few alts. But the vast majority of the time; yes.
Nope. BM hunter fits me like a glove.
What I do get bored of sometimes is the race and such; I’ve racechanged more times than I care to admit. I also frequently change the transmog/fantasy of my main. That keeps things fresh for me.

I’ve always played my Priest since WoW got released. So this character goes back to day 1.
In other games I’m more inclined to change what I’m playing. You know, variety is the spice of life.
But WoW has always been developed in such a way that it’s very character-centric as opposed to account-wide. So you’re sort of penalized for splitting your progression and time-investment across many characters versus concentrating all your efforts into one character.
And then the game has all that FOMO history, so there’s simply a lot of stuff you’ve probably herded together over the years on your main character that you will never be able to acquire on a new one (Mage Tower rewards for example). So there’s some sunken cost to a main character as well.
I was like this until BFA from where i mained this Warrior. From SL on There is my WW and Mage which i play s times for a while when im bored of my main and i progressed my main goals. Like now i play my WW 95% since 2 weeks, but ima Play Warr aswell for sure and st a point again the Most.
Been playing priest since vanilla. I cant imagine to play than priest as main.
Shaman since vanilla so great memories i can’t leave!

Yes and no. Druids are simply too good.
I’m a completionist, so that means I do everything on the one character while grabbing stuff, such as toys and pets, locked behind other classes like in Legion.
I want to be best at some class - thanks to this I’m decent on my mage or pala. If I had to learn a new class/spec every patch or expac, I’d go mad and probably I would be way worse. Sure I’m not top 1% but I’m sure better than I would be if I kept changing classes all the time. It’s about consistency. I’m happy I can play my mage with eyes closed (metaphorically speaking).
I started playing a lock alt for the lulz and I’m horrible at it and idk if I have strength to learn everything about it. Memorize all the intricacies… eh
Also thanks to maining one-two classes I collected nice TW sets with ease ^^

Simple.
Trolls are the best race.
Warrior is the best class.
Fury is the best spec.

Perfectly understandable, have a good day.
Seriously though, I just vary up the specs and game mode. A little raiding here, a little M+ there, and a little PvP way over there. Let’s play some Frost. Let’s play some Fire. Let’s really get into it. Become darn near the best mage I can become (so not the best mage, just the best mage I can become whatever that means xD )
