Levelling Up
Same issue as most people with Enchanting.
Bad decision at the start and now I’m pretty much bricked.
I’m 80/100 Enchanting and specced into Insight of the Blue and Rods, Runes, Ruses.
I can’t even spec into Enchantment to make the Devotion Enchants even if I had all the gold in the world (which I don’t).
I thought I’d try again on an alt. I followed a guide, collected all the possible knowledge points I could and spent hours flying around for anymore I might find in treasures etc…
I’m up to 57/100, and, between having to sink considerable amounts of gold (that I don’t have) into Enchanting to max it out, not being guaranteed to make a profit (let a lone make back all the gold I’ve spent) and the new Crafting Order System, I can’t bring myself to go any further. I’m done.
Crafting Orders
I needed to make writ weapon enchants to level up (and rank 3 if I don’t want to loose gold).
To give myself the best chance I went to the crafting orders to get some gear. I bought rank 3 mats (which were pretty expensive too) and put in the order.
Item comes back, no where near max rank and now I have to spend more gold to recraft it, because someone else wasn’t good enough. Not only that, I now have to spend all my time spamming trade chat because I can’t list it as anything other than a personal request?
I put a 15k enchant on the item without realising too and I guess I’m going to lose that as well.
Apart from item quality, the new profession system actually seems pretty cool and I want to use it. But Blizz have made it so unfriendly it’s left a real bad taste and the same old thoughts and questions about Blizzard’s philosophy.
I don’t actually think any of this is accidental. Game companies are known for hiring more and more psychologists. Every time I come back to retail, I’m left thinking: they’ve done this so you buy a Token… Everything seems centred around that Token.
I can play for 12hours+ and make very little gold doing things I enjoy. Dungeons, Raids, PvP etc… In fact I no doubt spend more gold than I make. So how am I supposed to have the millions needed to level it to max? Oh yeah, buy a token.
Professions are supposed to be like an in game job. Do some work get paid.
Who wants to go to work and lose money?
Some of you will say go farm something else or do something else. But I’m talking about professions in a game that I’m supposed to be enjoying. Not doing mindless tasks I don’t enjoy so that I can do the things I do enjoy. This is a game not IRL. I do mindless tasks at work, I play games for fun.
Side note.
There’s a reason Final Fantasy removed item quality from their game. Blizz should have seen that. The work was already done for them. I’m not sure why they think it’s a good idea to implement it.
The whole mentally behind retail really does leave a sour taste.
Just put mythic+ in classic and I’ll take myself back there.
Oh while I’m here… Why does everything have to be sooo politically correct. Blizzard are pussyfooting around the higher ups so much it’s unreal. The whole story’s written like it’s for a children’s cartoon. I keep thinking back to some of the interviews with people that work there. Most of them are like some weird uncle that think’s they’re ‘down with the kids.’ People with degrees and paperwork but no real passion or understanding.
‘Oh Fortnite has backpacks. Kids like Fortnite. Kids like the backpacks in Fortnite. Let’s put backpacks in our game.’ I’m 99.99% sure that was a real conversation in some board room with some out of touch weirdos discussing how to make more money from the players. That’s my whole feel about the design of retail. Sooo out of touch.
I think I’m done ranting.
Happy New Year everyone.
