How come hunter pet and lock pets take agro away from Tanks?

What is the main purpose by blizzard that hunter pets and lock pets automatically takes agro from tank? i dont understand tbh.

You can disable there taunt and in instances that should normally auto disable

i know  but as a tank and i tank “someting” in a good position. Some hunter or lock comes around and steal agro ASAP. And when i am in tank spec i just wonder, why pet agro> tank agro.

Well the normal pet agrro will never take the Aggro from you that then must be the taunt and every taunt in the game simple does the same thing and that is it forces the Aggro on the user for X seconds.

And if it’s about outdoor stuff where the taunt is not auto disabled then most lock and hunters simple don’t care.
The would first have to even acknowledge the other player there is a tank and then they would look to disable the taunt that may not even is on the pet bar/they don’t even have the pet bar on

Ive found that if I level up in a dungeon then often the pet growl resets and turns on. I have to manually switch it off and sometimes the pet will take some aggro before I can do it.
Maybe that is whats happening?

Probably they left the taunt on. Sometimes it is useful to have it on even in an instance, when for example, the tank is overwhelmed and the healer gets aggro. In this case the hunter / lock may save the healer. Otherwise it is better to have it off, when the there is a tank available.

It was during Shadowlands, I remember that a tank in M+ pulled too many enemies in that Revendreth dungeon with the open area at the start, died, and as he died I summoned the Earth Elemental to buy us a bit of time. It actually did since the tank released and ran back swiftly to pick the enemies. But then he actually cursed me for not summoning the elemental while he was still alive.

But as Clare said, giving non-tank players options to manage to pull aggro off the tank can be a boon if used right.

I find if my pets growl is off but I pull a mob off a tank (stupid DPS me) my pet automatically casts growl when the mob hits me even with its turned off

In most normal players, we disable any form of taunting skill when doing group related content. This is to make things easier/smoother for the tank(s) involved.

But there are players, mostly Hunters who do not bother to touch anything related to their pets, apart from rolling their face on the keyboard.

It’s unfortunate, I’ve seen and when I’ve tanked on my warrior or DH, I’ve told hunters to turn off their taunt, but of course most of them can’t read, so it falls on deaf ears.
