How did demo warlock turn from the most fun to least fun spec?

This is basically what demo used to be. With metamorphosis you would become the demon as you blasted tons of damage with demonbolt and soul fire. The feeling of that version of demo was incomparable imo.

I guess the focus of the spec just shifted as meta became the major cooldown for demon hunters. The new animations and effects didnt do any favors for the spec in my eyes.

The shift came with Legion, so yes DH stole our iconic spell. We had it since WotLK. But Ion wants us to use this stupid pet AI to deal massive dmg, with a poor game play.

I love this version of Demo.
Implosion is super fun! And Pit lord in DF will be S I C K !
And current pet AI is fine.
We need more customization on our Demons. Not only weapons.
New skins, why not armor on Felguards!

What game are you even playing? It’s gimmicky at best but not fine at all. The dogs and felguard have seen some improvement but the tyrant and imps AI is horrible in PvP.

PvP is on pathetic state for the game. They can’t fix it at all not just the pets.

Tbh they should have just kept meta spec for PvP so less reliant on pets.
And I’d like to add that Denathrius is one example for PvE content where pet AI is absolute trash, legit the worst boss fight experience I’ve ever had as it was nothing but a running simulator for your demons and is proof that blizzard doesn’t design boss fights with classes and specs in mind.

The burst of meta was so good would fit into SL

I’m personally probably a niche player that only summons as many demons as I can to do the DMG and I’m really sad that the new tree still doesn’t really promote that playstyle.

Pact of the Imp Mother went into the right direction. Having that work on Wild imps meant they got a strong 6th cast shortly before they disappear. But sadly it was only for the primary demons and got deleted the following week.

And to add to Daedra’s point:

Demonology warlocks are supposedly the master of summoning. Why is it that we are forced to play with the Felguard since TBC

IMHO there should be a baseline passive that enhances all main demons in some way

Let it be small buffs to certain Playstyles.

Like for example the main imp buffs all wild imp with more mana or even gives them the Pact of the Imp Mother effect.

Or the main felhunter buffs the other dogs to bleed/dot the enemy doing shadowflame dmg.

Maybe Succubus is all about sacrifice and it buffs implosions.

As for the void walker being a tank is good enough I think.

Please blizz give us a choice as master summoners.

All current Felguard only talents can be revamped to work with all primary demons.

Soulstrike:
Imp: fire Blast or even conflagrate
Felhunter: claw attack like shred
Succubus: whip slap
Void walker: void touch

As an fel storm alternative:
Imp: either flame strike or rain of fire.
Felhunter: swipe or thrash (from druid used multiple times)
Succubus: whip storm
Void walker: void storm (like holding out one hand and focussing void energy to collapse around the target dealing AoE)

There is really no reason why the other primary demons couldn’t be empowered too in some way. As there are abilities in game that would make that possible, be it from other classes or enemies.
It wouldn’t make them stronger just give us more options to play with.

Especially as we get an interrupt via the general tree that is not bound to the felhunter.

This seems awkward at first, but you can use it to your advantage and create some massive tyrants.
