How did you first discover WoW?

Got an email from the Blizzard back-then telling about it.
Since I was already a big fan with having all their games (Three Vikings, Warcraft 1-3), it was only the natural choice to try out the game as well, especially as I was getting tired of Ragnarok Online, and SWG had just nuked itself with their CU/NG+ launch.

Yea, i was a bit confused. xD

i played the warcraft rts. then this.

I saw my mom playing the game (original classic), and I got to try it with a character named legolasxdxzxd or something.

You can never guess the race or class.

Via a friend that doesn’t play anymore.

Read about it in a magazine (yes, that long ago! an actual printed, physical magazine) that Blizzard was making an MMORPG. Was immediately psyched. Me and my real life friends were already playing MMORPGs back then, so a Blizzard-made one was a dream.

Saw the battle chest (OG game + TBC) along with WOTLK on a shelf in Blockbuster. An ex work colleague had been pestering me for ages to play it, so i bit the bullet and got the aforementioned battle chest and WOTLK (about 15 years ago iirc). Playing ever since, apart from a long break during WOD

People I had been playing korean and various other mmos with since late 90’s said they heard of this wow and that they are going to try it. I decided to also buy the game and bought the dvd box from local gamestore around 2005 vanil.

From twitch when wow classic came out in 2019 (i am 25 btw)

My little brother used to play during TBC but I really didnt have any interest in gaming back then, few years later I stumbled upon Nobbel87 on Youtube, specifically the Story of Sylvannas and the invasion of Quelthalas and got hooked on the Lore of the game after some time spent watching YT Videos. And well here I am.

Ouch lmao

OG player with only 13k achi points?

There was an Arcade Centre near where I lived, and if I remember correctly, I think they were hosting a Halo tournament.

My cousin convinced me to sign up with him and two friends.

When we arrived, most PCs had people playing World of Warcraft, I think it had just released.

I always thought PC gamers were nerds, and consoles were for the cool kids, so I didn’t get the hype.

About a week later, my cousin was playing it, and that’s how I got into World of Warcraft (PC gaming).

Blizzard had a teasing splash screen on their main website ahead of the reveal and announcement of the game back in 2001. Technically that would be the first glimpse of WoW, but without knowing what it was.
Later the announcement came during ECTS in London, and if my struggling memory serves me right then I read about it in an article on a Diablo fansite. Bill Roper, who was the PR guy at the time, talked the game to the heavens I remember. So I was pretty locked in from the beginning.

Maybe this player don’t care about achievements ?
