Returning player that stopped playing in early bfa. I want to get the new elite plate set that makes me feel good in my “no no zone” every time I see it, but there is an issue…my only PvP experience has been this seasoon grinding conquest on battlegrounds. I was always a PvE player and even there I was extremely casual, hell I’ve never even done lfr raids(to be honest I don’t want to wait 40 minutes for that last tank to join and I have an extreme fear of guilds that I got from some elitists telling me stuff about endgame).
Most of my time since I sarted a month ago has been leveling and gearing up a paladin I had made a long time ago and I managed to get him to ilvl 430.
Where do i go from here? Do I need to get over my fears and join a guild to gear up to 470 ilvl and be SUPER prepared or am I ready to get into early rankings(0-1.4k)?
This guide is a good place to start. Do some arena skirmishes to get to know how arenas work. You are at a decent ilvl to start but should try to get better gear. I think that the brawl quest gives a decent ilvl as well as the darkshore heroic warfront and capping conquest. Doing raiding/mythic+ will definitely help with gearing up so it’s a good idea to join a guild. If you don’t want to join a guild you can usually find people in LFG, know the mechanics and you should be fine.
Hope this helped!
It really did thanks! I might try heroic battlegrounds first since I’ve haven’t been doing well in arena skirmishes. Thanks again for the help!
Glad I was able to help! If you do some pvp with me here’s my battletag: zbez#21601. FYI I only recently got into pvp too so I’m not that good.
I added you, name is GoldenPants(don’t question it). Took me long enough cause I went to sleep
In my experience 1800 is not very difficult to get to at all even if you have little to no pvp experience beforehand. Obviously general knowledge of the game still helps so that you know the opponents abilities and what they can do.
If you focus solely focus on improving in PvP, it shouldn’t take too long to reach that level. Your gear is still pretty poor though, but reaching 470 doesn’t take long, especially if you’re willing to dip your toes in PvE.
Would it be better to do rated battlegrounds than arenas? I’ve had a bad time at arena skirmish and a much better experience with normal and heroic battlegrounds
It could be easier to get 1.8 rbg rating, but it’s going to be slower. You’ll also need to find a group, which can be difficult with no prior experience. The RBG scene is much smaller than the arena scene, and RBG’s are not that similar to normal/heroic battlegrounds which are the most casual instanced PvP.
I actually don’t find it that easy. I played wow in cataclysm and a little bit of legion. Usually only a little bit of PVE, never PVP. I started to dip my toes in into PVP 1 month ago. To me PVP was a little overwhelming with all the abilities and comps from your opponents you just have to know to react accordingly. I’m starting to catch up getting to know all buffs and debuffs I can dispel with my disc priest (I am 4 weeks old with priest as well now). But it’s still pretty hard IMO.
At the moment I play an RMP comp with a mage who at least has been a gladiator years ago back in BC But we struggle to get past 1500+ rating. I know that I still need a lot to learn and I am not that good. But usually we just get crushed by DHs (of course) and monks.
Although I got to say that our iLevel is around 450-455. It’s hard to catch up with that gear if you don’t spend 3 hours a day. PVP feels a little frustrating to me atm
1800 is pretty much a matter of putting in the time.
Just grab some friends and blast.
…said the destro.
You’re a hunter, so you’re a demon hunter without the demons.
Checkmate.
Im noob. At BFA start I got around 2000+ rating low geared.
Now I got back to wow , got gear around 450 + and to get to 1400 rating felt like 2000 +
2 shoots, got deleted in 1.5 sec stun, retry + guardian killed me in 3 second window.
Feels like have to finish all PVE content and only then enter arena. Never felt so bad about PVP.
i havent actively played any arena since mop and i got 1.8 within 50ish games this season playing with lfg partners
it was honestly very easy and i had below average gear at the time
470 atleast
