For WoW only: CPU, 2000-series didn’t have very strong single thread performance and it has increased by a large margin. Depending on what motherboard you have you might be able to get a 5000-series CPU, eg. 5600(X) or 5800X3D depending on your budget (around 150 euros for 5600, around 200 euros for 5600X, around 300-350 euros for 5800X3D). Less from if on sale.
my mainboard is apparently: tuf x470 plus gaming
now i ll ahve to find a way to check if your mentioned cpu is compatible, ive been out of the pc building game for a long time
That supports 5000-series CPUs, just make sure to update bios (and preferrably AMD chipset drivers) BEFORE replacing the old CPU with new CPU as it is possible that the computer will not boot with the new CPU until BIOS update.
Looking at the manual the BIOS can be updated directly from the BIOS itself (assuming network connection is available) so that is probably the easiest way. Remember to take note of any custom settings (eg. for memory) you might as BIOS update will reset them.
Great to hear! It helps many other games, too. For example Stellaris, Factorio and similar games benefit from the large cache.
Correct, while benchmarks are not out fro 7800X3D yet I doubt there will be much difference for WoW between 7800X3D and the more expensive CPUs. But unlike 5800X3D 7000-series would need entirely new motherboard and RAM which would be lot more expensive upgrade compared to just CPU replacement.
